I am going to buy this (these) today and reasons why

I initially read this as ‘Baby Shark’ tag. You should get one of those if available.

We have ribbons on ours that are unique (so far).
We also just bought some of those “air tags” that we will use on our next plane trip.

Lol, I’m pretty sure they didn’t have any baby sharks or that’s what I’ve have gotten. I imagine this was the closest they had. My daughter knows me pretty well.

I just use purple luggage. No one else ever has luggage of the same shade.

I get really into hobbies. I’ve mentioned that on here before.

I’m getting into moka pots and espresso now. I am considering buying an espresso bean grinder, but they’re about $200 and I don’t have the counter space. But I did buy a milk frother and steamer, and the pot.

I’ve always wanted one also, for my desk at work. Is it a type 1?

Baratza ESP or DF64? I just went down this rabbit hole and ended up with a Baratza 270 and a Gaggia Classic Pro Evo machine.

A 1ZPresso hand grinder also works well and doesn’t take up counter space but it’s a bit of work.

I had been eyeing a fellow opus conical burr, but the entry point for a decent espresso electric grinder seems to be $200 across the board.

Yeah, $200 is the lower end. And everything I’ve read says the grinder is more important than the machine. Which is hard to believe but after messing with this for a month I can buy it.

Like when I switch to a different bean, I have to make some adjustments to the fineness, and having micro steps is huge. I guess it takes precision to hit that sweet spot where you’re pulling a shot in ~30s.

I don’t know that I’ve pulled a great shot yet but it’s fun.

Yeah it’s a type 1, my wife got it for me for my birthday.

So I don’t like espresso on its own, I actually really dislike it, but I like flat whites and cappuccinos, which both have a good deal of milk, so the quality of the espresso isn’t all that important to me. But I like getting into new processes, so I’ll likely spring for the grinder eventually.

Same, I go for a flat white or latte 90% of the time. Milk and sweetener masks a lot. I’ve been tasting each shot plain and I can tell that some are sour or acidic, some are bitter. Haven’t pulled a shot that I’d say is truly balanced but I’ve made some that are close. It’s a neat hobby.

So this is seriously badass. Did she find this locally or buy online? I’ve bought a lot of vintage and antique things over the years and shop a lot and I’ve never seen one of these in person.

Weaselette loves her frother. She’s drinking an egg nog latte as we speak.

When it comes to taste, I have a hard time really distinguishing between a moka pot cup of coffee and an actual espresso, especially once it’s milked up. The moka is of course much less concentrated, but it’s still pretty rich to me, compared to a drip.

I really enjoy the manual process of making a moka pot of coffee too, although I don’t see myself putting in that kind of effort before work when I’m going into the office. So, we will see which one prevails.

Side note: my husband is still making a full pot of drip coffee every morning, even though I’m not drinking it. I have a feeling he’s going to be upping his daily coffee intake as a result.

She gave me the go ahead and let me bid for one on ebay. I selected 3 auctions to look out for but I won my first one.

That’s what I read and hear in my mind.

I’m getting the sense from this thread that that’s not one of those old timy calculators?

What gives you that impression? Of course it’s an old timey calculator, the exact kind of thing we would nerd out about here.
