If you have the space for it, I think the compressor ones are the best. I have a “freeze the bowl” type because it’s small, and light, and can be stored out of the way. But I’m sure I’d make icecream more often if I had a compressor.
I don’t have room in my kitchen for that, however. And they are too heavy to want to drag from room to room.
I bought a pizza oven for my husband’s Father’s Day present. He had mentioned wanting to get back into making homemade pizzas and I’ve heard really good things about the Ooni brand.
I was looking at these at Ace hardware. I was checking out the pizza dough, and some guy comes up to me unsolicited, tells me his dough recipe. Turns out it’s not $7 for two pizza doughs.
I bought a Searzall, finally. They are $51 at Amazon now, a good price. This is going to turn my sous vide game up a notch, and should be perfect for pork belly as well.
Do note if you want one, add $50 for the torch and like $6 for propane.
New paring knife. I’ve had the old one for 20+ years and never really liked it. The handle is too short, that little bump on the end doesn’t work with my large hands. And I wanted a bit more blade.
So today, I went to our department store (one of the last independent department stores in the US) and tried out four different options from Wusthof, and wound up with this 4” paring knife. Little bigger blade, and while the handle is only 1/4” longer, it’s all usable because it doesn’t have that bump on the end.
My issue with those discount places is that I’d prefer to just buy 4 sets of sheets. I have two twin beds in the same room & it’d be nice to have spares for each bed, so that’s 4 sets. The likelihood of finding 4 of the same at a place like TJ Maxx is just so incredibly low.
That said, this morning I put in an order for sheets from Costco (they added some twin sheets since I last looked) and quilts from Target… and then promptly found identical quilts cheaper on Amazon so I ordered those too and I guess I’ll return the Target ones. Hope I like it all when it comes in!
