Sounds like we need a Choc’tacular!!!
I like the chocolate better in Smarties. I do think the texture of the shell is better with M&Ms and I can eat more of them. Smarties get a bit harsh on middle-aged gums if you eat too many. I like visiting countries where you can buy either.
I love the colors of Smarties - I used to build color pyramids from them in my younger years.
Edit: I can’t find any Smarties pyramids online, so will have to build one when I’m next in Australia.
We competed to make the tallest tower of (US) smarties in college.
I ordered some coffee mugs and a couple of glasses from The Black Dog, because I wanted to.
End table shaped like a Wine Barrel (Wrought iron) that can be filled with corks
I’d like to buy a pair of nice (brown or black) boots. I think I am getting over the Harley Davidson or Doc Martin types. What should I be looking at that are comfy and fashionable?
Wexford ads are coming up in some feeds. I wouldn’t mind the slip-on type either
No idea. For my feet, there are NO boots that are comfortable.
If I were the boot-scooting type, I’d look (actuarially) at how long they’ll last while being comfortable.
The die-hard leather folks often say: a $100 pair of shoes will last a year, a $500 pair will last a decade, and a $1,000 pair will last you the rest of your life. I’d quibble with that a bit, but directionally it’s right.
I’m a big fan of Allen Edmonds, and I have a pair that’s ~15 years old and going strong, I have replaced the soles. Most of their shoes just have leather insoles with cork underneath to contour to your foot over time. I find them comfortable but if you really must have a soft shoe, AE ain’t it. Ditto for Redwing, which are normally more ‘rugged’ looking boots.
Bruno Magli are fantastic, a little more padding, super soft leather. Not cheap. My oldest pair of shoes in my closet are Magli.
Dishwasher Samsung Stainless Top Control - My current one MUST be from the 60s. It didn’t work 3 years ago and I lived solo, so I never replaced it. Now that Mini T-2 is here there are enough dishes per day to warrant. Having it installed tomorrow!
Lights in my basement office (now that I WFH 100%) - It is too dark and the current ones aren’t enough to provide lighting and are pretty dated. I’ll let the electrician help me decide what is the newest tech out there.
Looks like Thursday Boots has the same styles but less expensive. I think I’ll start there.
I’m having a bit of fun trying to parse this expression . . . starting with adding a “missing” t . . . but realize it’s a spacing issue
Ordered new eyeglasses today after my eye exam.
Since it seems there is an impending risk of trade wars and tariffs, I ordered a new phone. Verizon gave me $1k to trade in my iPhone 13, so I got a 16 Pro and only had to pay tax and a $35 activation fee. Good deal.
Aaaand a new phone case. Fifty bucks for a Nomad case in Horween leather.
today was the last payment on my son’s braces! Fully paid off #2 of 4.
Bought three ceiling fans for the porch, add $700 to the cost of that project.
Nice!
Any word on the heaters?
While mine are pretty good, I’m not sure about the infrared quality. Gas might be better if you want to control the temperature more easily. I’ve got heaters with two filaments, and without extremely expensive regulators (more expensive than the heaters themselves), the best I can do is turn only one on for ''half-heat." Also, they heat up everything, so, nice warm bottle of wine in a warm glass, or a nice warm bottle of beer, like instantly.
