Carbon monoxide detector because the old one went beep, beep, beep.
We did discuss it briefly, don’t know what thread. Someone recommended a Thermacell, which I bought. Anecdotally it does help but I haven’t thoroughly tested it. You can also bring out a fan, mosquitoes aren’t the strongest flyers, and sitting in front of a strong breeze helps.
A Thermacell definitely helps a little, but if you are already getting eaten it’s not going to make them all go away. Fans can also help keep them at bay as they don’t like it when it’s too breezy.
Not sure what repellent you are using. Most people are familiar with DEET. That stuff works in high enough concentrations. However, it irritates my skin at times. It smells so intense it feels like it can’t be great to have that stuff on your skin too often. It also pits plastic, so be careful spraying that stuff near glasses/sunglasses.
There are other products I have tried that do work that aren’t overly harsh for my skin. Picaridin works with minimal odor, perhaps a slightly peppery smell. Oil of lemon eucalyptus works too. It does have a smell, but it’s sort of fruity and not unpleasant to me. I have read that other than DEET, Picaridin, and oil of lemon eucalyptus, the only other type of repellent applied to the skin that works is IR3535, but I have yet to try that product.
Thank you; Thermacell is the solution I was trying to remember. I just ordered one. I like the idea of repelling rather than killing the bugs, but I’ve had poor luck with citronella candles.
Thermacell works ok but I still need to wear bug spray on my ankles, where I get bitten the most and where the itchiness is most annoying.
They should make thermacell sandals!
Yeah, these things are pretty much useless for mosquitoes
I got an air-fryer. It came last week and it has been used every day since and multiple times on a couple days. Maybe just the newness factor but it is really nice. With just the Mrs. and I, the small size (can remember if 6 or 8qt) is fine for us.
re-upped my annual membership to Whisperings; Solo Piano Radio. It’s $30 for the year, no ads, kind of like spotify but much cheaper. Good background music.
The trigger hasn’t been pulled yet, but Mrs. Sidekick and I have a big wedding anniversary coming up, and she’s been frustrated with my answers on what I want as an anniversary present.
I think I’ve found something that she could get behind.
You did well then to not say it’s something she could get in front of.
So who needs a new watch. LOL
Going to go look at a Labradoodle.
I’m looking to get a piano, and am leaning towards a pre-owned Schimmel upright that is out of my price range b/c it is just too beautiful an instrument to pass up. Also tried some that were more expensive for fun and they weren’t as good.
unless you have your heart set on something specific, check various market sites.
We had to junk ours (Upright nothing special) when we moved, couldn’t even find someone to take it for free, same issue with our Inlaws’ (baby grand)
Yes, we live in era with lots of unwanted pianos. You should get a rescue piano.
I had two flashlights in my car, both of which had dead batteries, and were cheap pieces of garbage. I was annoyed at not having a decent flashlight yesterday (forgot to bring a good one from home), so now I bought both a flashlight and a headlamp to keep in my car.
I believe we only get KitKat here. I did buy a packet of Smarties when I was in Quebec a few weeks ago. They were sublime!
