yeah, apparently. I already made plans to have vaccinated friends fly in at the end of may prior to this green light. I think people were ignoring their suggestions as unreasonable anyway.
Planes are already full and they have been for a while. Loads of people were already ignoring that.
as full as they were prior to covid? I’d be surprised. once people are vaccinated though, I’d expect most of them to not avoid flying.
Yes, completely full. They don’t even do the leave the middle seat open thing anymore.
by “as full as prior to covid” I mean do they have as many flights taking off as prior to covid. I think that most airlines have a policy to only have full flights, so it wouldn’t be an indication of people flying the same as prior to covid just based on the flights that do take off being full.
Delta is the last airline blocking middle seats, and they are ending that May 1.
Oh, yeah, I see. That I don’t know. Now that the CDC has given vaccinated boomers permission to fly, they’ll probably start adding more flight.
not just boomers though. the rest of us are also getting vaccinated now. i think that there is going to be a major increase in flying in the coming weeks.
going on annual vacation with my mother and sister that got cut short last year due to covid. wearing a mask at this resort any time i’m out of the room other than for eating will make it kind of suck though. i have low hopes that they will ditch the mask mandate by next month. hate masks.
last year before we got kicked out of the resort, we were mask-free in a covid wonderland.
“mask free in a covid wonderland” is the name of my next band. It’s kinda death metal. A blend of danish and norweigian styles. Little bit of beach boys style surf.
I was amused at this resort. We went there mid march right before the world shut down, and at check-in they said it’s a safe haven from covid. I laughed and thought they were full of shit. my mother believed them until we got kicked out less than 2 days later. at least we didn’t have to wear mask though. masks suck.
My husband travels a lot for his job and no, the airlines are not operating at their pre-Covid levels.
A number of flights in & out of our home airport are no longer happening. But it’s getting harder to get last minute tickets, which is a sign of recovery.
I would have guessed some swedish in there, too. ![]()
I think I read that we are back up to 90% of pre-covid air travel levels.
Nah. More like 70%
The number of empty seats on airplanes may be at 90% of pre-Covid, but that’s because they’ve cut flights.
Or maybe for one particular date if there was a weather event in 2019 but not in 2021. Or the day after a major 2021 weather event.
CDC says fully vaccinated folks can travel:
I wonder if the CDC realizes unvaccinated people have been traveling throughout the pandemic.
Yes, they have been warning against it constantly haven’t they?
I mean, CDC advises against indoor dining too, but it’s allowed in most jurisdictions.
At this point I don’t understand why. Before, when there was question on “could you transmit the virus even when vaccinated”, then sure. I could see the risk. But isn’t the consensus now that isn’t a major concern?
