i’ll probably see what other people are doing. i am not going to be the only person there not wearing a mask looking for a fight.
if other people aren’t wearing a mask, mine’s coming off too.

Or hang out in the dining room with a cup of coffee. Wasn’t that your original plan? Or hang out outdoors. I bet they will let you unmask outdoors on their grounds.
That’s what I did today when I went to a popular park. I didn’t know if they required masks. So I wore one going in, and looked for signs. Didn’t see any signs, and the place was nearly empty, and only a few of the other people I saw were wearing masks. So I put mine in my back pocket, and only put it on when I had to walk close to other people who were wearing masks.
just my 2 cents on a Friday afternoon:
Mask wearing was really the biggest public awareness campaign of all time. almost all of the value from masks was from promoting awareness. Likely some >0 impact from physically stopping virus, but mostly it was a reminder that you had to wear on your face that we were in a pandemic and you need to be careful.
so it made sense that people still had to wear them after vaccination, since the awareness campaign was still alive.
seems like the awareness campaign is ending. People will nitpick about who has to wear them, but 2 things will likely happen:
1: you got vaccinated, waited for the CDC to confirm, and then removed mask.
2: you were against masks, and maybe even against vaccinations. So now that you see others take off masks, you take yours off too. vaccinated or not.
So saying ‘you can take them off if vaccinated’ is really just ending the mask campaign. I think the mask campaign did its job. It promoted awareness during the pandemic and forced people to be aware of it.
I just found out my state is ending the mask mandate for vaccinated individuals. Individual businesses are allowed to require masks. I’m going to a restaurant with a couple of friends tonight. I’m curious if I’ll see a lot of people walking around without masks.
Went out to dinner with friends last night. Most wore masks into and out of the restaurant and took them off once seated, out group of 4 included.
Same here. The state govt mask mandate ended today. Local municipalities and private businesses are able to enact their own. In fact, the largest 2 cities in the state have already said their mandates will continue.
I think I read that most large retail businesses (Target, Home Depot, etc) are keeping their mandates for now, but are “reviewing the data”.
My guess is Walmart or Kroger will be the first large chain that starts removing mask requirements. Costco and Whole Foods will probably keep it the longest.
I’ll wear my mask tonight until I get seated, then, I dunno. If the restaurant is allowing people to walk around without a mask, I’ll probably put mine in my pocket and keep it there.
For anyone in the south, do the stores down there mandate masks at all? If they do, does anyone follow it?
people at my job already took them off.
first time in a year I see people walking around without them on.
My state just ended their mandate today. I’ll have one in my pocket but won’t wear it unless an employee of a store tells me to
Trader Joe’s just announced vaccinated people don’t need to wear masks in their stores where there is no mask mandate in place.
Some of my friends were pointing out cruise deals (which I’m not going to click on unless I want cruise ads to follow me around everywhere) – if I were single, I’d go for it right now. I love cruises, and yes, they’re disease warrens. I don’t really care.
As it is, I haven’t really traveled much at all since Stu was diagnosed with cancer, and he hasn’t gone anywhere at all.
I get sea sick, so I’m a non-fan of cruises anyway.
Small, boutique cruises - Galapagos or Antarctica are fine (usually under 50 people).
Large cruises look awful.
Really? Wow. That’s surprising.
Actually, the COVID Info page on their website is currently unavailable. So I wonder if they’re walking back the decision.
If the signs when entering the store tell you to where it, will you?
Or does human have to ask you directly?
Honest question, as I am trying to understand if people plan to just ignore signage.
Honest answer- giant store a la Walmart Target probably just ignore the signage. Small store more likely to follow their signage, at least initially. Why the difference? Not quite sure
NY Yankees say 8 members have tested positive for COVID and all received the J&J vaccine. The good news part is that 7 had no symptoms at all, and the one that did doesn’t sound like they were hard hit
