Holiday fun: Whamageddon 2021 - Will you survive?

I “won,” too. Seems pretty easy. My theory still holds water.

Maybe next year, some other song gets “banned” because of internet contests.

Mariahmageddon 2022?

Makes me think of My Cousin Vinny.

No! JFG is Wrooooong!!

I lost again this year. Stupid trivia jockey played it. And my stupid teammates misidentified the artist. At least we still won.

I only made it until 12/3

9:00 this morning: “Hey, Whamageddon’s started for this year! I wonder how long I’ll last?”

10:05: I’m out. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I heard a cover version of it about a week ago. I wasn’t holding out any hope. :man_shrugging:

According to the meme that’s circulating Facebook, covers are ok. It’s called Whammageddon… only the Wham version counts.

Different jockey played a cover mid-round. Then finished the game with the Wham version and mocked us all.

Worst of all he tried to attribute a quote from 2000 “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” movie as from the book. You can be a jerk, just don’t be wrong.

Been out at least a week.
What about CareyCarol?
Yeah, I’m out of that, too. Twice!

Damn it, I can’t remember the idea I had 2 years ago.

I think I’m safe right now; I recall hearing a version of the song at Wal-Mart, but don’t think it was the Wham! version. Did remind me though that (1) there is no good version of the song, and (2) it’s really just 4 lines that repeat over and over and there’s no way to exit the song without a fade out. It’s the Christmas Song That Never Ends.

Also a pretty hokey movie starring the Khaleesi. Oh, and you had better like that song if you watch the movie.

I thought I was safe because I don’t listen to radio, I mostly don’t watch TV (and the video I consume isn’t holiday programming), and I do virtually all of my shopping online.

I didn’t consider gas stations that play music in addition to ads, etc.

I’m out.

I also considered myself relatively safe and haven’t been whammed yet this season, but yes the gas station might get me.

I listen to audiobooks when driving or running errands alone so I think my earbuds have been saving me.

Careful… driving with headphones and/or earbuds is illegal in a number of states and IMO dangerous everywhere. Although the danger certainly varies by whether they are noise canceling or not and how loud you have them. You need to be able to hear a car horn or siren or train whistle.

I only wear one when driving.

Also, you know that deaf people drive, right?

I’m similar in terms of exposure and I don’t buy gas, maybe this year is my year!

You are not deaf. So don’t act like it.

Glad I saw this thread. This reminded me I hadn’t heard it yet this year, so I immediately put it on. Good times with a great song.
