we spent the weekend at bon echo/mazinaw lake. There’s a sheer cliff that rises out of the water. We climbed to the top for some morning exercise. my son and his gf got engaged so overall a fun, happy weekend.

Bon Echo is amazing but it has probably been over 40 years since I’ve been there. My older brother camps there every summer.
Are the Anishinaabe pictographs still visible on Mazinaw Rock?
yes they are. I always drive by them whenever ever we visit. they’ve lasted by some counts 1000 years so they should last our lifetime.
So little of first nations history seems to be retained or visible, thes paintings are I think the only really contact with the past that I’ve seen.
The other thing that exists is at the conjunction of two lakes in ontario, there’s a set of fishing weirs under water that I think have been dated 5000 years ago. That’s before the pyramids, before most people’s gods. I’ve fished near there before but one of these days I’m going to fish right there and think ’ I’m standing here in a line of people going back 5000 years, catching the same perch.

Even the accompanying story on Facebook says it was a judge, not Ilitch, who moved her. But the accompanying story, confirmed by Snopes, says he paid her rent after he learned what had happened to her.

just got my ‘new’ server GPU in. I’m moving backwards, going off of hosted service back to my own hardware located in a colo. Motivated by the ai stuff I’m doing locally and the need to keep pii info secure which is tough to do when its hosted in ‘the cloud’. servers and ram should be rolling in over the next few weeks. then I migrate all my stuff, file servers, CRM, websites, backups, over to the hardware.
this will likely mildly impact you folks as I expect I’ll also move the website off the shared hosting I’m using now, over to my servers. which I would expect would make things faster.

IT installed a fourth monitor (4 including the laptop screen) overnight and it works great. 
so you’ve got three monitors? how’s that work? I dont think I have room on my desk.
Every year my wife plants sunflowers. Almost every year, the squirrels find them. We had one survive this year, I’d say it’s a little over 8’ tall and I see the flower forming, it’s a nice one!
There are seven monitors in my office, one of which is a ridiculous ultra-ultra wide.

I downgraded to a single ultrawide a few years ago. Multiple screens gave me neck strain as I spent too much looking to either side. This also reflects the reality that I have moved on to the PowerPoint era of my career.
My sister was flying for vacation from SATX to Bangor, near where she used to live. She got to Charlotte OK, then the flight from Charlotte to Bangor got as far as Durham, circled for 90 minutes because of storms, then just returned to Charlotte. Further flights to Bangor were full and the next flight she could get into Bangor was 2 days later. So she had them route her through Chicago, where she spent that extra time with me.
