Do you use battery tenders?
Nope, I had kept meaning to get those, but kept putting it off because batteries are pretty cheap…
Man, I replaced mine last year and it was like $90, didn’t feel cheap!
For quite a few years, we’ve had a guy showing up at our St Baldricks fundraisers (btw, you can donate to children’s cancer research here if you are so inclined) who is fairly round and has thick white hair and a bushy beard. So for the last few years he’s been showing up as Santa and has been passing around a Santa hat to collect money for the charity. At this year’s event, the shaving was set up outside of a bar on a deck. When it was time for Santa to get shaved, he sat in the chair and it immediately started to snow heavily.
Got a pleasant financial surprise today.
Unknown to me, Mercer UK has been reviewing the level of pensions under its former pension plan in an effort to equalize their values for men and women. As a result, I get a retroactive lump sum payment and increased UK pension going forward. The amounts are not huge as I was only in the UK for a few years but it was a welcome surprise!
It’s 6:45 and I’m done work for the evening! That’s rare.
Except I’ll probably come back down in an hour and get ahead of some other stuff lol. But I don’t have anything I ‘have’ to do tonite!. Freedom!
The recent annoyances at fast food places reminded me of a happy one. I was buying something at the driveup window and paying cash. I gave an appropriate bill, but said I had some change, too. She hadn’t heard that part and started to get change for the bill. Once she saw that I had change, it took her just a few seconds with no use of calculator or paper to give appropriate change. It’s been a loooong time since I saw a fast food employee who could handle cash with ease.
Had a year end reporting is over team lunch today.
Went to our go to Burger and Lobster.
Very satisfying.
Everything I’ve seen about this guy in the last couple of days, man, he’s the most stereotypical American an American can get lol.
The lemon pound cake thing is awesome.
The Afroman trial is amazing. Was amazing. The shaming he issued…I hope it continues forever.
Lehto’s Law discussed the Afroman trial today, basically fully supporting him and pointing out how well he made his case to the jury.
My London daughter (and her partner and three year old daughter) arrived this week to take a sabbatical and live with us for a year. Looking forward particularly to the opportunity to develop a closer relationship with their daughter as she is delightful but we have not been able to spend much time with her.
Our other two daughters have both lived with us with their children for long periods of time so this is not uncharted territory for us. Those earlier stays went well.
That sounds like paradise. Some people seem to want their kids out of their house the minute they can perambulate. I’d rather have them never leave. Both my spouse and I pretty much live for the kids and grandkids coming over.
If our kids moved to london, I’m afraid my spouse would be packing our house up and booking tickets, we’d be moving. Thankfully it looks like both kids are sticking super-tight to where we are. The oldest lives about 15-20 minutes and they’re looking at a different house that’s about 15 minutes away. The youngest lives about 5 minutes away, maybe less and when they eventually buy a house I think there’s a good chance they’'ll actually stay in town.
They sure had a different experience than I did. When I hit 19 I couldn’t move far enough away and never come back.
En route to Boston with my sons for spring break. We were up by 3:30am to get ready to leave for the airport. They normally tend to go bed around 2am. Needless to say, they’re both snoozing in their seats.
how was TSA?
