Generally neither, it’s less a need and more that it’s nice.
Just got another $1MM of term life on myself. Happy because a) issued standard and b) now my spouse is properly protected again.
Premiums for that much coverage at my age are starting to get a bit high lol, but since I’m a licensed advisor, and for this specific company, my commission is higher than the first year premium. So basically free life insurance for a year.
I like unisex bathrooms in cafes, bars and restaurants. It generally makes the wait time shorter.
Fair point. The new KC airport is interesting, there are still some male and female bathrooms, some unisex, and there seem to be a lot of family restrooms, plus some pet areas. I still miss the Denver airport, which had WAY more flight options, but this isn’t bad. And the restaurant selection is honestly pretty decent.
Most mornings I wake up first, make myself a coffee and my spouse a tea and drop it off beside the bed. Once in a while my spouse gets up and makes me my coffee.
When they do that, they set up the keurig, ready for the next coffee. It’s just a tiny little spot of happy when I go to make a coffee and the machine’s ready to go, just gotta push the button.
That’s what couples do to make the marriage last!
I have a big pot of butter beans with a ham bone on the stove, and the house smells fantastic
Is that a Georgian favourite? Sounds good.
Southern, but not Georgian in particular.
I had a ham for a NYE party, so I threw the bone in the freezer with the plan of doing something like this.
Butter beans are the same thing as the big white lima beans. The green limas are the same bean but harvested very young.
It’s quite tasty for not much effort. Soak the beans for a few hours. Saute whatever aromatics you like in a big pot; I did onion, celery, garlic this time. Add any seasonings you want; i did just thyme, salt pepper. Throw a ham bone or ham hock or smoked turkey parts in. Cover with stock. Boil for 10 minutes or so, then simmer until done which might take an hour or 2.
somehow never thought of this before - last night melted butter and added it to a bag of store popcorn. was awesome! (we were out of kernels to pop)
OK, while I was annoyed that Team Homan wasn’t in it, the final was a really tight game - the curling equivalent of a pitcher’s duel - and it came down to the last shot.
Also, it’s pretty nice that you could watch live on youtube.
Teen swims 4km to raise alarm family got swept out to see on a paddleboard. All are safe.
If he’d followed that up with a 112 mile bike ride and a 26 mile run he would have completed a full Iron Man.
So, my city now has the finest of upscale restaurants. I’m going ham on the salad and breadsticks tonight, you guys!!!
Ahem: upscale restuarant. ![]()
The last time we ate at olive garden will be the last time we eat there. Mediocre over priced food.
I love watching the server grate the cheese on the pasta and wondering “What if I don’t say ‘Stop!’ “ ![]()
Sadly, while we have a solid restaurant scene, we lack Italian option. One local place we like, one that is meh, and one place that’s good but they charge $23 for spaghetti and meatballs, and no free salad or breadsticks. So I think the OG is a good option for us.
I also still like Chili’s. But Applebee’s sucks. Went way downhill.
I survived on half price boneless wings from Applebee’s in college. They were so good!
