I am very “anti-brand” so greatly enjoyed this article.
I appreciate quality, and agree that many if not most of the brand names in so many sectors have gone downhill. I usually hang out in places like the ‘buy it for life’ subreddit on the hunt for quality. There are still high quality items out there, but you have to hunt.
Too many brands spend ridiculous amounts on promoting the brand so may have to cut costs on their manufacture? That should be a losing strategy.
took grandkids to Annie at MSG theature. Leaving theater 5 minutes before next LIRR train. Pretty much gave it up as missed (45 min to next), wasn’t rushing but got into Penn so quickly, hustled them down the steps.
Doors close just as we reach platform. Wife about to head back up, but i yell wait, take grandson with me near train and stare down towards the front.
They reopen the doors for us.
Mr. NA got me an air wrap for Christmas. I’d been wanting one for a while but fell too down the rabbit hole of reviews and wasn’t sure it would work with my hair, and it’s a pricey gamble. But I’ve tried it twice now and both times I’ve been pretty pleased with the result. My hair historically does not hold curls from a curling iron well, but seems to hold this look, even after sleeping on it. So, I’m pleased. And as a bonus, it takes less time to style my hair with this than it took when I was blow drying and straightening before.
I injured my left shoulder in July. First it felt like a sharp strain in the collar bone area, but settled into a pain when resting on left side, and weakness/pain when using in certain directions, more strain in left neck muscles, etc. After a while i kept swearing i needed to see ortho to fix it, but always fell to bottom of list. I am mostly a side sleeper, and normally need to switch while falling asleep, so this was a big nag.
Middle of the night, i wake up when i feel a loud pop close in on the left shoulder. It feels much better; still some muscle soreness but can put pressure in directions that previously had pain without any.
Took the little one to watch Peppa Pig and Matilda in London’s West End, and it was so much fun.
Hundreds of kids from all over the world with their parents just singing along and enjoying the outing.
Was really nice to see.
I got to use one of these today…
I woke up to a flat tire, but the tow truck guy and discount tire store guys were so awesome that I was barely delayed.
Peppa Pig sounds good. It was a big influence on Bluey.
I solved the Sunday NYT crossword puzzle yesterday without hints. And I solved the Saturday puzzle with only a couple hints. One of my better weekends.
met a friend’s 1yr old today. cuteness overload!
kid was busy, tricking me into picking up one of the pacifiers while holding the other. I’d pick it up and give it back. swap new one into mouth and throw the other.
also got some quality Bluey time watching the kid thrive in the little Bluey tent
Three packages that were delivered within the last four days were still on our front porch when we got home today. How wonderful. This calls for a high five.
My son had kidney stones in the first part of December, which resulted in one urgent care visit and two emergency clinic visits. Since the emergency clinic is freestanding and isn’t associated with a hospital system (but it is part of the urgent clinic chain), I wasn’t sure how it’d be billed out. (They advertise costing 1/4 of what a traditional emergency department visit would be.)
I’ve been keeping an eye out for the EOBs. I knew urgent care was billed just like a regular doctor visit ($25 copay), and it looks like the emergency clinic is the same, with the testing and meds received in clinic covered with that $25 copay. So the whole experience only cost us <$100 OOP, including prescribed meds and another lab fee to test the stone. We were very pleased with the speediness and the actual care he received, and the low cost is a bonus. I tend to be a bit leery of doc in the box places, but I’d definitely use that system again for straightforward urgent/emergent care.
Five hours well spent, imo.
At first I thought it was a quilt (not really (but kind of))
I hope quilts are softer.
From just first picture, I thought jigsaw puzzle
My husband wants me to tell everyone that the lighting in the photo makes it appear yellow. The middle is white, but the photo has a warm tint to it.
BF and I went away for a few days after Christmas but the lighting at the cabin we rented was so bad that we could only work on the jigsaw puzzle we brought during daylight hours.
We brought a 500 and a 1,000 piece puzzle but only actually did the 500 due to poor lighting.
I was cooking via flashlight, which was bizarre.
