Staycation starts today!!
my favorite when the kids were at camp
After six months, finally my son’s paperwork is done. He flies out on Sunday for Alaska to start his new job. He’s pumped, we’re happy.
And with three week rotations, that means he’s home for Christmas too.
Six months to complete the visa process?
Geez. The US has not improved on that front over the last 20 years.
Most of that was the company. But yeah, some of it was the government. Turns out they won’t issue a visa when the supervisor has less education than the worker. So that was another rewrite of the job description.
Folks. We are visiting family for the holidays, needed to stop and get dinner tonight. We managed to agree on where to eat in fifteen minutes. A new personal best!
dude stayed in his car (per the article). then camped for 15 days? was the car inoperable?
I asked chatgpt for help understanding that part. This might be true:
The article doesn’t explicitly mention why Sam Benastick didn’t just drive away in his vehicle. It suggests that he returned to his car after encountering trouble during the hike, but he likely left it again to seek shelter or resources, eventually becoming disoriented or stranded. This detail remains unclear, leaving room for speculation about why the car couldn’t serve as his ultimate means of escape.
If I play my cards right, I won’t have to work a full week until January. The only week I need to slide an extra day of PTO into is the week of 12/16, which will be a very difficult task, but I’m up for the challenge.
You can do it!
Believe in yourself!!!
You go, girl!! Or don’t go, as the case may be.
You can do it!
I thought I posted this before, but I just looked back and didn’t see it posted in this thread since August 1.
Made biscuits and gravy this morning. Made the gravy in my cast iron skillet. I inherited it from my grandma. She inherited it from her grandma. This thing must have seen a lot of gravy in its century of use.
Ooh. I made that yesterday…in a Calphalon, so not quite the same level of nostalgia, but still delicious food.
