I once bought a Miele vacuum, right around my wife’s birthday, and I joked that it was her present.
Lol. My spouse likes doing kitchen stuff and like their household equipment, so I could actually get away with something like that. I’m just very careful not to do that - mostly because I find it low thought and stereotypical.
I broke that rule one time - I bought them a SMEG kettle that colour matched our kitchen, and that was based on a recommendation from someone on this forum.
Making butternut squash soup!!!
I feel this so hard.
This story showed up in my Facebook news feed today, but it was about a race in 2016 (unhappy thought: in googling to confirm, I learned the dog died in 2023 at age 9).
Dog did the entire 13.1 miles on her own, finished 7th overall and 1st among females, in a half marathon in Alabama. Let out for a potty break, she joined the runners on her own and stuck with it. Race happened to be starting near her house and attracted her attention.
I just realized Veteran’s Day is next Monday. It’s a company holiday.
A Trader Joe’s is opening within 2 miles of my house. The only other one in town is 15 minutes away and in a heavy traffic area, so I’ve never been. Now I get to see what the fuss is all about.
When the Key Lime cookies come back around again, go get you some!!!
What did you buy? We like their Belgian chocolate, coffee beans, Weissbier, half bottles of Champagne, Chardonnay in a box, water crackers, cottage cheese, seaweed and flavored non-sweetened mineral water.
wife has lactose issues, they have a lot of dairy free substitute items
Juat announced, not sure the actual open.
They’re supposed to have bacon wrapped scallops back this year for the holidays. Strongly recommend.
Found another source says 2025 open, no specific month. Cross post sad thoughts.
I first had bacon wrapped scallops at a holiday lunch the executive chef made at work (mid 90’s). To this day, I have never been able to figure out exactly how to get the bacon done just right and the scallops done just right. She was a wizard.
Rare quiet night at home tonight and I am enjoying an Italian red in one of my wine glasses that originally belonged to my grandparents and it’s making me happy.
Gosh, I might have to open a bottle of red wine after reading that!
The whole family did a 5k today. My son signed up to do an after school running program, which he hated, but he finished with a positive attitude - and ahead of me! That was my goal for him, although I didn’t tell him that I hoped he beat my time.
I walked all but the last stretch and finished 9th in my age/gender group - out of 11. My goal was to average under 16:00 min/mile pace and I finished at 15:39. Total chip time was 48:37.
Would like to be able to run a 5k again someday, but that’s probably unlikely. This was nice though, there were lots of walkers participating.
My husband finished 3rd in his age group and 16th overall, at 24:05. He has always been a runner but hasn’t been training at all. I’m jealous. He could probably shave off a few minutes if he did train for it.
That’s awesome, doing a run with the whole family.
if it was me, I’d 100% be telling my son that I let them win though.
So I don’t know what I did but yesterday my shoulder was killing me. I think it was my rotator cuff maybe, just hurt to do anything. I was expecting to wake up and it could be worse, but this morning it felt pretty decent, and as the day goes on it’s still improving. Was worried my whole week would suck but it’s looking pretty good!
