The counter guy was being very confusing this time.
Normally I bypass the counter, but my credit card on record was hacked and cancelled, so i had to show a new one.
Anyway, leaving for the Airport, it looks like someone had hit me. Mostly just scratches, a little bumper damage. Also, the backup camera looks foggy. I figure, if they charge me, naybe a few hundred dollars, thousand at the very most. I am way ahead after all these years.
I get my electronic receipt, and it is more than I expected. The counter guy added the Damage Waiver.

twice before i had been hit in a rental
my brother backed into the rental, he would have covered the damage, but was literally able to pop out the panel and no visible damage
another time a guy rear ends me, i stop, he speeds off. I see no visible damage, though it felt like pretty solid contact. Drive about a mile and the asshat, is on the side of the road, hood up and steam coming out. We hunk and waive as we drive by

The only time I ever damaged a rental, I was driving in Nevada during high winds. There were tumbleweeds blowing around when I was on the highway, and I hit one when it blew across my path directly in front of me. Of course it was light enough that it didn’t do any structural damage, but it did gouge the paint in a few spots.. Like you, I expected to get charged for the damage. I was surprised when they didn’t charge me anything.
My granddaughter is pretty taken with me lol. If I walk near her,doesn’t matter who’s holding her, she reaches for me. My spouse who babysits her 2x a week is like wtf lol.
She wakes up at night occasionally and it’s a chore to get her back to sleep. This past weekend she woke up at 3am. I held her for a minute, put her back to bed and sat in the room for a few minutes til she went back to sleep. Now my daughter was like wtf lol.
I think it’s maybe because I read to her. Relaxing down time, quiet time together.

My next door neighbor has an art show starting in October, running the whole month. And getting the invite to the opening today is how I learned my neighbor quit his miserable job in IT and started painting full time. Good for him.

That’s the dream. It could never work for me, but I would love to be creative and carefree like that. I don’t have any creative interests I could monetize without ruining my interests, but I would love to be the kind of person who did.
he has talent, and he was basically digging holes and living out of crappy motels.
My daughter earns well enough so he could try. It seems he makes a profit and is getting into bigger fairs.
I didn’t even want to get into consulting, because i needed to know my income every month

Am helping my wife organise a birthday party for the little one.
They (Brazilians) love to go all out for a kids party (she is turning 5) so should be an enjoyable day for all the kids and parents.

I rarely get to see my best friend due to personal stuff in his end. But when I go home, I always visit his elderly mom. Go for a walk, listen to her stories, etc . I offered to have her over for a fish fry at my sister’s place, but it was going to be too overwhelming for her. And fair enough, if you’ve seen one of our back home gatherings.
So I offered to bring my camp stove to her house and I’d make fish and chips from the back of my truck and the two of us can eat on her front porch.
I suggested that to my buddy, and he came back with, if I do lunch instead of supper, he can make it. Awesome! I haven’t seen him in over a year, gonna be great to get caught up. And I know his mom will love it, some excitement but not too much, plus a visit from me and her son that she doesn’t see often enough. Looking forward to next Friday.
