Interesting.
This is one of many differences between our two countries. In Canada, we also have anarchists but they are a tiny group who have no real influence. In the US, this faction of the Republican Party seems to wield enormous power. The minority is ruling and can bring the system to a halt.
Maybe the US House needs non-confidence votes!

Sounds like a grinding halt as there doesn’t appear to be a 3rd speaker vote on Gym and there doesn’t seem to be support for expanding the temporary (interim?) speaker powers either among the crazies. Though expanding the temp speaker power is likely to get a fair amount of Republicans on board along with most of the Democrats I’d assume to at least get House business going. But dysfunction reigns supreme.
My hope for all of this is that enough of the Republican base has had enough of all of these shenanigans and they elect representatives who are willing to work with the Democrat’s and that will make America Great Again.
Don’t hold your breath. Last time they primaried a fairly far right Speaker as being a Rino.

Guys, this is getting really serious.
Ogles predicted that if the interim speaker resolution is voted on this afternoon, “it will fail.” He said “quite a few” Republicans spoke out against the measure at the closed-door meeting.
Ogles said he has pushed for Republicans working through weekends to elect a speaker.
“When members start losing weekends, they’ll come to a resolution. They’ll figure out who they can vote for," the Tennessee lawmaker said.
Lawmakers might have to work WEEKENDS.

I think this is Jordan saying “What’s the alternative to me?”
Some members thought the alternative was giving McHenry enhanced, temporary authority. If that fails badly, then those members are stuck looking for the next option.
The broken clock gets one right:
Representative Matt Gaetz (R-Florida), who put forth the motion to vacate that ultimately led to Kevin McCarthy’s ouster, told the Post that the former speaker using the speaker’s office to hold court with fellow Republicans is “peak McCarthy.”
“To McCarthy, image and performance were always more important than reality,” Gaetz said. “If they weren’t, he might not be a squatter in that office today.”
