I would say that it’s incumbent upon the user to know how the tools work and change their use of that tool as needed.
It’s just that some tools are more “user friendly” when it comes to knowing how to use them.

I needed to adjust a screw and the screwdriver I pulled randomly from the toolbox gave me the wrong answer!

Sure… I’m just saying that a calculator spitting out 16 doesn’t make 16 any less wrong an answer.
Unless this is on a 7th grade assignment/test in the unit on order of operations, getting the wrong answer of 16 is completely the fault of the person that wrote a mathematical expression very poorly.
