Which 4? I only count 3 of the Apostles that have “books” in the NT canon.

Or is there some odd Catholic document that’s not “Protestant” being considered?

Matthew, Peter, John, James, Jude?

Setting aside questions about whether Matthew, and the various books ascribed to John were actually were written by that Matthew and that John, Jude’s a “maybe”.

Generally the epistle of James is considered written by Jesus’s brother and first Bishop of Jerusalem, and not James, son of Zebadee or James, son of Alphaeus.

Some sources, including St Jerome, believe that the James the Younger (one of the Twelve) and James, bishop of Jerusalem and attributed author of the book of James are the same person.

I break into your authorship discussion for a Pergolesi Stabat Mater:

Enjoy!
