They have just switched to Pepsi products. I was expecting the Coke products.
Looked for a regular (C, V, S) shake at the kiosk, but all they had was the seasonal apple-something shake.
Kiosk then asked me a tip for the great service I was giving for myself. I bring dollars with me for tips, so I usually reply “no” to the auto-ask, ESPECIALLY before I get my food.
Ordered the teriyaki burger not expecting a particular element --pickles – so had to pick them off. I like that Jersey Mike’s has no sandwiches with pickles included, nor does “Mike’s Way” include pickles. Pickles suck, IMO.
So, off the list it goes, until at least they change the kiosk programming to “no tip,” and an easy way to exclude any horrible, always-included add-ons. I can live without Coke products as long as there is a shake option that I can easily find. I might write a strongly worded, handwritten letter to the bozos that made all these changes.
So, any places you choose not to patronize for nit-picky reasons like the above?
I try not to eat fast food very often. Usually when I do I’m on a road trip with the dog in the car. It’s probably less than once a month.
The first place that comes to mind that fits this topic is a Wendy’s near my house. Pulled in the drive through and placed my order at 10:15 am. There were a couple of cars ahead of me. It took forever. When I got to the window at 10:30 they said sorry we are no longer serving breakfast, would you like to place a lunch order now? It will be a bit of a wait since we are busy setting up for lunch service. WTF. I say I understand breakfast ends at 10:30, but why the fuck did you take my order 15 minutes ago and leave me sitting here if you had no intention of serving me? Blank stare. Well we have some breakfast items we can no longer sell would you like one of these other things that have been sitting around for a while? WTF no. I was pissed enough I went onto the Wendy’s website and filed a complaint. No response at all.
Bummed your habit experience was not up to par. Ours here in SB don’t have kiosks and still have Coke as of a couple weeks ago.
Agree about the pickles. I always make sure to tell them no pickles, no mayo. One time they put the pickles on anyway and when it brought it back and complained they apologized profusely, made me a new one and let me keep the old one - gave it to my friend. He was stoked on a free meal.
Their shakes are really good too. Next time you visit I’ll take you to the original Habit.
I think it was pretty recent. I overheard one the employees say that. I was there Thursday.
I was also at a Panda that changed the Pepsi machines to Coke right in front of my eyes. Bumped it up my list a few spots.
Huh, of the big pizza chains I like Papa Johns the best although there’s local pizza around here that’s better.
The closest Wendy’s location sucks big time so I avoid them but I’ll go to other Wendy’s locations.
There’s a local place that I really liked that was blatantly ignoring COVID restrictions when it was early and such restrictions were appropriate.
For years I avoided Portland City Grill which ignored a boil water order and continued to make ice from contaminated water despite the advisory specifically stating that it was not ok to make ice from the tap water. “Oh, our manager said it’s fine… freezing the water would kill anything.” Walked out and did not go back.
Just don’t go if there’s a boil water order in downtown Portland. And skip it for maybe a week after as well… who knows how long contaminated ice will live in their ice maker.
I am also in the Papa John’s is bad camp. Lots more sugar in the sauce and crust, do not like. However I have not eaten a pizza from Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, or Dominos for probably 5 years or more. You can find better from your local.
