Fall 2023 Exam 8 Thread

the 30th

Has anybody done the RF practice exam? Any thoughts?

I believe I remember hearing it was pretty difficult, but haven’t tried myself yet. Planning to soon. What were your thoughts about?

Haven’t done it. I was thinking of doing it today, but honestly I am starting to get burned out. That is why I wanted to know if it was actually a good practice for the real exam.

I felt that it has a lot of good questions but it took me way over 4 hrs to complete it

How would you compare the difficulty to 2018/2019 or other practice exams like TIA out there?

I found it harder than the first 3 TIA exams. I did not yet take 18/19

my thoughts:

representative: 2018 = RF (too long) > TIA#4 (too creative) > TIA#3 (too plain)

difficult: TIA#4 > RF > 2018 > TIA#3

haven’t done 2019 yet.

Edited: I didn’t time myself for any of the PEs, but I definitely couldn’t finish RF or #4 in 4 hours. Anyone is the same?

I found that the RF exam took me soooooo long. Couldn’t get close to four hours on that one.

great comparison, thanks for sharing.
Haven’t done 2019 or RF yet. Keeping them or the very last so I can’t give any opinion on those.

I timed myself in all the PEs I have done (2016-2018 and all TIA’s), and TIA #4 was the only one that took me over 4 hours.

Felt the RF exam was incredibly long and difficult, definitely not finish-able in 4 hours. Definitely a major confidence crusher… just going to have to hope the real thing is easier or this is going to go very poorly…

I absolutely need to study more but I have back to back meetings next week until Friday….I don’t feel so good after doing TIA#4 and RF. Is TIA#2 worth doing?

At this point I’d suggest to go over topics you feel you are not so confident about instead of doing TIA#2. It is pretty straightforward and after doing #4 I don’t think it will be of much help

still avoiding RF here..

TIA 2 is definitely easier than TIA 4 or RF. When are you sitting? If you’re on the last day like everyone else you might still have time for it.

I was crushed by TIA 4 and RF and I have no idea what to do now since it seems like I’m just lousy at everything and especially at reinsurance.

Let’s have a bit of a casual chat to ease everybody’s nerves (hopefully)!

  • Is everyone planning to take advantage of the break, or would you prefer to do it all in one shot?
  • Are you guys bringing a “security calculator” with you even though it’s CBT? (Honestly, I can’t even find my calculator!)

I might use the break if my need to pee is keeping me from focusing correctly (which is almost always the case). I think it is great for us to now have some time aside for that. Let’s see if it works as intended.

I stopped bringing the calculator after my first CBT sitting as I realized I didn’t even really needed it. It’s funny how the test center staff look surprised when they ask for my calculator and tell them I don’t have it, their face is like “either you are failing this exam or you are a genius for doing it with no calculator”. Unfortunately, the only thing I am sure is not the case is their second statement.

  1. I still bring a calculator just in case I want to quickly check something and don’t want to mess with pearson excel.

  2. Take the RF as a series of practice questions and not as an exam. The questions cover a lot of good topics even and could be a good review. Just don’t take it thinking of it as representative of the actual exam.

Planning on actually drinking water on exam day. I am usually too afraid to since I don’t want to miss any time. You can also use the bathroom break as a time to try to work through a problem in your mind, remember a formula, or work something out on those weird whiteboards they give you.

30th. My only time left for study may be next Friday and Saturday, need to chill on Sunday the day before the exam. I wish I could study more but I’m so glad it’s almost done…don’t want to think of retaking at this point.
