…AND my car f***ing dies on the way home from work. Awesome. Top notch stress levels are really helpful. Like seriously wtf right now.
Wow…ok so that happened…
I got a 5 last fall, and I definitely feel this exam was harder than last time. Yes there were a handful of “straightforward” questions, but for the majority of questions I had to do something I don’t think I’ve had to do before, or in a way I’ve never had to do before.
what’s really startling is how the number of exam 8 takers dropped significantly compared to pre covid levels.
do we have stats on the number of sitters this time? I think last fall was depressed because of the missed spring sitting, and spring 2021 wouldn’t normally have an 8 sitting available, so it didn’t fit into people’s long term plans.
now that jooni says so, I’m now really worried
You guys have done a great job at making me feel completely terrified to sit for this.
This is how I felt.
Normally I can get an idea of how I did, but I have no clue if my approach to some of those problems was even close to right.
Same here but that isn’t something new. 2018 and 2019 felt pretty bad ![]()
I agree with this 100%. And also is my approach the one the graders expected, etc.
Admin question: Is there a way to force cell to text if the first character is “-” or “=” or “+”. It looks like the usual apostrophe approach in Excel is not working well in the Pearson environment.
If we answer but didn’t show work because we did the work using that erasable notepad, I assume we’re going to not get full credit?
Like we’d have to spend some time explicitly showing some work to be safe I assume.
I feel the same way. I’m taking it Friday.
I have no choice but to stick my head in the ground and ignore all these comments about how hard it was. I need to keep my confidence up!
This my third try, I think I got a 4 and a 5. And I feel the most prepared compared to my first two tries, and I have the feeling that this time will be the one.
It’s also hard to take one person’s feeling of the level of difficulty, as we all have different natural strengths and weaknesses. Some papers on the syllabus will be harder for some and easy for others. Same for the type of questions. We also have different real life experiences which can impact how familiar we are with particular topic
So for anyone still taking it over the next few days, stay strong, we got this one!!!
I’m sure we need to show formulas.
I was never 100% clear if we need to actually write out a formula, or if the formula embedded in the cell is enough.
In the past I wrote it for the earlier part of the exam… then I ran out of time lol
Agreed! Gotta stay positive at this point!
The last time I felt an exam was easier than expected was 6 in spring 2019. Since then:
8 Fall 2019 - way harder than expected (fail)
7 Fall 2020 - slightly harder than expected (pass)
8 Fall 2020 - slightly harder than expected, thought I passed (fail)
9 Spring 2021 - slightly harder than expected but I should have passed (fail)
No chance my exam gets graded before the end of the year
I’m hitting the bed. Good luck to all those taking tomorrow and Friday.
Good luck to you as well!
…because it will take them that long to add up all the points you amassed, right?
If I recall in 2019, before the whole delays in 2020, we got our october sitting results in the 2nd week of december.
