Facebook observations

I noticed that some sites are using “304” as a reference for hoe. If you don’t see it put “304” in a calculator and turn it upside down.

What’d you call me?!

I’d call you more sassy than anything.

We could do an entire thread on this and it’d last for days. DAYS I tell ya.

Interesting sponsored ads:

  1. The SOA is looking for kids to use their math skills for good!!! :+1:
  2. Some place specializing in typewriter repair, sales and service. Dahel??? What ****in’ decade are we in???

Is there a problem with kids using their math skills for no good?

You mean like shooting dice in the back alley???

While they’re still kids? Not a big problem, no. After they grow up? Yes. The knowledge that people pick up during their formal education is subsequently used to do all sorts of bad things. Like most bad things that have ever happened.

Facebook suggests I might be interested in a marketplace ad for … 6 nail clippers. Huh? Who on earth would want that?

Agreed. You would think they would make them in packs of 5 instead of 6 so I can have one that specializes for each nail. Kinda like hot dog buns and hot dog packs misaligning.

George: I’ll tell you what I’m doing. I want to buy eight hot dogs and eight hot dog buns to go with them. But no one sells eight hot dog buns. They only sell twelve hot dog buns. So I end up paying for four buns I don’t need. So I am removing the superfluous buns. Yeah. And you want to know why? Because some big-shot over at the wiener company got together with some big-shot over at the bun company and decided to rip off the American public. Because they think the American public is a bunch of trusting nit-wits who will pay for everything they don’t need rather than make a stink. Well they’re not ripping of this nitwit anymore because I’m not paying for one more thing I don’t need. George Banks is saying NO!

Stock Boy: Who’s George Banks?

George: ME!

That was in 1991. Now they sell 7 hot dogs and 8 hot dog buns, but same idea.

I honestly buy Nathan’s hot dogs rather than Hebrew National in part because Nathan’s comes in packages of 8 whereas Hebrew National comes in packages of 7.

I prefer my hot dogs to be meatier. So I often buy the packs where you only get like five hot dogs, and then you’re just going to waste some bread. Just leaning into the chaos good and hard, I guess. Maybe I should take my fancy-hot-dog-buying to the thread for extravagant purchases!

When I went camping I bought Ballpark because I figured it would be useful to see where they were plump (and cooked) and where they weren’t… and therefore required more cooking. It was useful, but what makes the hot dogs do that? It kind of freaked me out. Resulted in a larger dog than Nathan’s though.

you’re getting SOA ads?

Wouldn’t you need 10 then?

A multiple of 5. Easily achieved with packs of 5. 20 if you like the left handed and right handed variants for both hands and feet.

Well, this is quasi-political, so I apologize to twig93 for breaking the rules…

I’m annoyed by the “Say a prayer for this soldier” and especially the “Can he get a million likes/shares”? (1) The soldier portrayed in the picture probably has nothing to do with this FB post…well, maybe, but I doubt it. (2) WTH difference does it make if I like/share it other than annoying other people’s FB feed?
