I thought about going with “Jeffrey Epstein is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is getting recognized more and more, I notice” but I was concerned that was going to be too obscure an R to get N’d.
Otoh, I suppose this could be like Russiagate, where Trump’s stupid reaction makes the story.
Where the coverup is worse than the crime?
Where the melodrama is louder than the crime.
That is, we know that Russia interfered in the 2016 election. And we have reason to believe there was collusion, but it was also possible that Trump was just an idiot. And then there there was the coverup, which was worse. However, the real drama occurred when Trump fired the very guy investigating him, twice, which made him look both super guilty and insane, and then started tweet shouting at everyone for months. And then the crime and the coverup were both sort of forgotten under all the tweets and other crimes he would commit later.
Here we’re in a similar situation, where Trump basically is basically making this into a story about himself shouting about it.
every accusation an connfession
Let me say that if it can be proven that Clinton and Summers were rapists then they can go to jail. Hopefully no one will be spared.
I’d think Alan Dershowitz should probably be really high on the list of people to investigate. I’m fine with the Justice Department going after everyone. I see no justification for not looking into Trump given his extensive history with Epstein and clear knowledge of Epstein’s involvement with young girls.
I’ll be a little surprised if they actually investigate Democrats vs just talking about it. The probability they accidentally catch Trump is too high.
Dershowitz is guilty AF in my book, but given his support of Trump at the impeachments I think he’s untouchable.
Interestingly, one prosecutor was part of teams that secured the convictions of Epstein, Maxwell, and Diddy, as well as other high profile serial sex offenders like Robert Hadden. I wonder if she is available to work the case? Oh right, she got fired and is suing to get her job back.
Incidentally, Maurene Comey’s wrongful termination suit appears to be so strong that her former office, the Southern District of NY, as well as the Brooklyn and DC US attorney offices have refused to defend the case and the DOJ is being represented by the Albany office instead.
Totally agree. I think Trump is overplaying the card on investigating others. I think the public consensus is to let all the perps face the consequences.
Clinton hasn’t been president for decades and a lot of his fans are dead. I don’t think there’d be a lot of pushback on investigating him. I’m also not sure that he’d ever go to trial with his health.
If we find out that Obama, Sanders, Biden, AOC, and Mamdani and all were in league with Epstein, they can all go to prison.
What monster would protect such people?
I was amused about the email suggesting Trump had “been intimate” with Bill Clinton, assuming Bubba = Clinton.
I’m fine with the DoJ going after everyone for this. What will happen with the current DoJ is that all the Democrats and their supporters will get prosecuted, everyone supporting Trump will be ignored, anyone else will get shook down for money.
How will that play with MAGA nation? Look, I’m not saying it’s a cult, I’m just saying 99.9% of them will find a way to still support Trump - even if there’s 10,000 videos of him raping little girls - with logic that visitors from highly advanced civilizations who come to this planet thousands of years from now won’t begin to comprehend, and will think “we need to blow this planet up to save the rest of the universe from its stupidity.”
A lot of MAGA people have daughters. It is probably the ONLY reason they are all-in on releasing the “Epstein File.” Sure, some of them would gladly let Trump fuck their underage daughters and call it a win-win. The Deplorables.
I think the statute of limitations has probably passed on most of this at least from a criminal stand point, but even if these mo-fos can “only” be found civilly liable that would be a victory. And failing that, ruing their lives like they did so many young girls would at least be a minor consolation.
Per @now_samantha and Fox’s reporting lately, we are here:
Defending statutory rape because they aren’t in grade school is an interesting public relations tactic.
