Eating outside...why?

I haven’t had dominoes in about 20 years. Growing up poor (and nowhere near a little Caesar’s), it was the only pizza we ever got to eat that wasn’t crappy Kroger off-brand frozen.

I also grew up with a sensitive stomach, so I got horribly painful diarrhea after eating dominoes about 90% of the time.

Anyway, I hear they changed their pizza since then and it’s not “as bad,” and that they even used that line in their own advertising. Still, pass.

We hafta go for steak and sushi at the next big gathering!!!

It’s fine for $8 carry out pizza.

That’s interesting because I probably went about 30 years without having Dominoes and then had some and was surprised that it wasn’t completely disgusting which is what I was expecting it to be. I didn’t know they reformulated for the better, but that explains it.

I ate dominoes once when I was 20 and it was absolutely disgusting. And this is my opinion as someone who actually likes Pizza Hut and Papa Johns so my standards aren’t high. Dominos is really bad.

We’re on vacation driving through Oregon today and there is a local brewery next to our hotel. We ate on the patio and it was great. Had a tasty Belgian ale too. :clinking_beer_mugs:

Please tell me how you didn’t get eaten alive by bugs or have the entire contents of your meal getting swept off the table by the wind or getting all sweaty or having your hands get all sticky with no sink in sight to wash them?

Nary a bug in sight. We’ve been really lucky with weather on this trip. It was actually sunny for part of our time in Seattle and it was highs in the 60s and 70s most of the time.

West coast is the Best coast, no lie.

We must have crossed paths. Were in Portland yesterday.

I thought it was really bad in the past too. I think Papa Johns & Pizza Hut are fine and I used to think Dominos was a BIG step down from either.

It no longer is.

I’d still probably rank it last of the three but pretty close to the same as Pizza Hut.

I recall eating outside a lot in Portland, both at home and at restaurants.

The issues I encountered were rain and cold. I don’t recall many mosquitoes in the northwest.

I’m sure it was sometimes too windy to eat outside, so I didn’t eat outside in that case. But this time of year Portland typically has amazing weather and this is when the weather is transitioning to amazing in Seattle too (or was when I lived there. Both cities get more summer now than they used to due to climate change.)

It seems like it’s ALWAYS extremely windy on the ocean beaches in Oregon though, and I wonder about the utilization of outdoor dining there. A lot of places offer outdoor dining but it must be used rarely. I’ve spent less time on the Washington coast but recall it being very windy there too.

Note that neither Portland nor Seattle is on the ocean. I mean technically Puget Sound is the ocean but weather-wise it’s nothing like the portion of the coast that’s not the sound like Ocean Shores or Neah Bay.

We ate outdoors two days ago, it was 92° but whatever part of Athens we were in didn’t believe in AC. It was no fun, but at least we were sitting in the shade.

Currently on a patio in Kalambaka and it’s 72°, this is much better.

Domino’s did get better a few years ago, but its main attraction to me is that it remains the least-disappointing place that delivers pizza to my home.

(That’s annoying because a live in CT, where there is plenty of excellent pizza. Unfortunately none of the good places are accessible to me via delivery.)

domino’s has to be eaten hot. Whatever fake cheese they use becomes gross when it coagulates.

But it’s the garlic crust that bumps up its score for me. For some reason few pizza places do that.

I enjoy cold pizza the next day just as much as hot pizza. :yum:

I will have to try the garlic crust the next time I order Domino’s!

:iatp:

I remember hating Dominos years ago but it’s reasonable now. I’ve tried Papa John’s a couple of times and it is horrible.

We have started making our own pizzas at home in a 900*+ pizza oven. Takes about 2 minutes to cook, just need to prep the dough in advance, costs a fraction of a delivery (or digiorno) pizza, and is a family bonding activity for us. Not expecting to order pizza in for a long time unless we have friends over or something.

Huh, I really like Papa Johns. Of the big national chains, it’s my favorite pizza, although there’s better pizza to be had, certainly.

I have many options for pizza, one option of which is not eating pizza.

Dominos is below all of these options.

Pizza preference gene must be the same as edge brownie preference gene.
