I sat down in a chair to the right of chess GM Magnus Carlsen who had a friend on his left. Someone had just given a speech about why we should not care so much about the environment and finished, and in a few minutes Magnus would be called on to give the opposing view. He said he feeling warm for no apparent reason. “Hot flashes” I muttered. He told the person to his left I thought it was hot flashes as if he were mildly amused at the comment.

Two different dreams last night:
In the first I was working on a phD but not making any progress. Not sure what that was about except that I read the memoir Educated earlier this year and that was a thing.
Second dream, I was in my 20’s & single. A couple I know IRL wanted me to marry their son. He was several years younger than I was. But I said, “I’ll go out with him—give him my number.” And then we were eating dinner at their house.
The weird part is that IRL I know this couple. They are about 10 years younger than hubby & me. Their son is maybe 21? So ew. But thankfully there was nothing romantic in the dream we were just trying to see if we were compatible.

I had a dream last night featuring someone who’d died years ago. Not sure why, but it was nice to “see” them.

I would be fine with that if there wasn’t a 20yo kid involved. That would feel icky.
Also no coworkers. That is also icky.
I had an argument with Ditka. Not the poster, Mike Ditka. It was some strange TV fantasy football show where Ditka was matched up with commoners. He was spouting nonsense like Justin Fields was a top QB, and got angry when I called him out.

I am having a 1-2x a week recurring where I drop my cell phone in the sand but notice it a dozen steps later (sort of like on a construction site). Then I turn around to grab it and see it getting run over. I goto pick it up and it is AOK.
I had a dream that a push-up popsicle was purchased, but got stuck in a vending machine that was otherwise empty. I shook the machine to get the push-up popsicle and when I got it, it was opened, so I threw it away.

A month ago I dreamed that I moved to the city where NerdAlert lives, and she was the first person I wanted to meet after arriving - since I didn’t “know” anyone else.
honestly not a bad person to know. props to your subconscious for that!
I had a very odd dream the other night - I dreamt I was driving, but I was very tired and fighting to stay awake. I eventually fell asleep at the wheel, but as soon as I nodded off in my dream, I woke up for real… which really freaked me out, since in my mind I’d clearly “fallen asleep while driving”. As a result I startled myself “awake” back to the driving dream… only to then “nod off” again into waking up a couple of minutes later. I think I went through that cycle two or three times before I got my bearings.

I dreamed my sisters and I had volunteered as extras in a Noah’s Ark drama being produced by a mega church. We were at a lake. To create the situation of people flailing around in the water they dumped a huge amount of water in the lake and the waves really did sweep us away. I ended up holding onto the back of some woman I didn’t know while trying to recover from an unfortunate clothing situation created by the wave. Just doing my part to not shock the church ladies.

Something about shoes.
I arrived in Paris with a bunch of Asians, we were traveling to the far east metro area by car. I had some big US bills and small ones, and was trying to keep the small ones in my wallet and put the big ones somewhere safe. We were stopping by houses to pick things up. I was going to part ways eventually and I had expected to take public transportation to get to my rental car. It was only about three miles south of their destination.
Next thing I know I am in a bowling alley with these Asians. No surprise the people nearby speak French. But I soon discover another family speaks German. They gesture to have me come over. Then they gestured more with their hands and asked if I could communicate with the French people and I said yes. Their request to me was to ask the owners of the bowling alley for their best sandwich, which I explained was Je veux ton meilleur sandwich.
Sunday night I tutored someone in statistics for 3 1/2 hours to prepare for an exam.
Of course my dream that night also was statistics-related.

My friend Toby and I needed to take some kind of nationwide test. We arrived at the testing center and an elderly Chinese man sent us to two different locations in the building. Turns out, I had paid for the test, but wasn’t registered with GPS. That was the name of the testing service, and I needed to figure out how to sign up or I wouldn’t be able to take the test.
I found some computers nearby but no matter how hard I tried, all I would get are references to Global Positioning System, which I didn’t want. All I could think of is Toby’s going to pass the test today and I’m not. It wasn’t a big deal, I knew I would get another chance in a few months but I couldn’t do anything about it.

i was sitting on some kind of a bench in a public indoor shopping mall, and a young woman sat beside me and asked if I have sex. I said “no”, which must have intrigued her so she asked me to dance. we did, I had to teach her though, and then afterwards I learned that walking isn’t real. you know how you get that sort of thump sensation when you walk? and you have to do it one step at a time? I learned that you can actually just push off with one foot and the other will glide along like a skateboard.
it was in this way that I recognized that this world is a simulation, not real, because walking isn’t real. i tried to tell her, she didn’t get it.
when I woke up, yes, obviously, I tried it out, and, unfortunately, walking very much is real and we are not, also unfortunately, living in a simulation.
