We went to a pet shop on vacation, and the dog reacted strangely to an item on the shelf. She started rubbing her face on it, which she has never done before. We decided she chose her own treat.
It is a beef cheek roll. It’s probably a foot long, give or take, of dried beef cheek/head skin. It stinks, more than we knew at purchase since it was shrink wrapped. We break it out for her when we can keep her from eating it on soft surfaces that can’t be washed. She’s working it at the moment.
Had to drop the dog at the daycare for a bit earlier this week. It was hot as hell, and anytime it’s hot they pull the kiddie pools out for the dogs to play in. My dog loves that.
They told me she was trying to monopolize one of the pools, and tried tipping it over so the other pups couldn’t use it.
My dog is driving me crazy. She wants me to go outside and play with her, but after a few throws, she won’t give up the ball, so I go back inside. Not long after that, she pesters me to go back outside to play. Gah!
We bought a robot vacuum recently. The dog goes a bit nuts when it’s working, following it around and barking at it. I hope she gets used to it soon and stops that.
The cat just observes it from afar and stays out of it’s way.
The dog has had diarrhea for a couple of weeks, not constant but also not going completely away either. I took her to the vet Monday, as I suspected giardia was the culprit.
I brought a fecal sample for testing. The vet said not to worry since she was still eating and drinking normally, and suggested a probiotic and a very expensive small bag of dog food for her in the interim. I agreed to the probiotic and declined to buy that bag of food. Her problem is not the food, as she’s been eating the same food for years without problems.
Test results finally came back just now, and it’s giardia. Felt like the sales pitch on the food was just profit boosting for the vet.
