Normally I don’t need to brush my dog but shedding season has begun. There’s lots of tufts of fur in the backyard for any birds looking for soft nest material.

My dog sheds an incredible amount. I got her bathed/groomed this AM, which has reduced the volume. I’ll use the shedding blade on her this week.

I need to give her a bath, but that will really increase the shedding.

After years of preferring her outside water bowl, now she seems to have shifted her preference to the inside one.

I finally gave the dog a bath last night. I wish she knew I hate bathing her as much as she hates getting bathed. She feels nice and soft now. I wonder if she feels any better when clean. There’s tumbleweeds of dog hair all over now that her undercoat is shedding.

Mine is also going grey in the muzzle.

Must be some other dog you have. On a totally unrelated note, are we going to the salon soon? :dog:

Posting here bc I need to process it and my SO was even more traumatized than me

Trigger warning

We were out walking our dogs last night. Part of the walk is along a busy street. A small SUV passed us. Going about 40 mph. A young dog in the back seat with the back windows down. She was on a harness but apparently not strapped in with a seatbelt strap - she appeared to be just on her leash - but tethered inside the car. Can’t do that. the leash is too long. She (I assume) saw our two dogs and wanted to play. Got excited and jumped through the window. The leash was long enough for her to get out the window and almost hit the ground. She was killed instantly right in front of us. I threw my dogs leash handle to my SO and ran over to help but it was too late. She was gone. I’m still processing. But in short PLEASE properly secure your pups in the car :broken_heart::weary_face: her poor owner was beyond devastated. Idk how he even made it home

That’s horrific.

How awful. Just brutal to witness or experience closely.
