I have conceded Canada’s Group to Argentina but Peru and Chile’s FIFA rankings are not much higher than Canada’s. So there is a small chance of Canada advancing but they need a win today.
Peru certainly hasn’t shied away but have been using other parts of their bodies. Flagrant head butt that the ref didn’t red card and many dirty tackles.
The match has been painful to watch after watching Euro matches as Canada just has no offence nor flow: like playing a Central American team in a CONCACAF game. May not watch the second half. I don’t care who wins.
I hope Messi makes 1 more run at World Cup, but he’s getting quite the Copa America send off either way. NYC looks just as crazy with ARG fans as ATL did. Being the defending WC champs of course helps that a lot, but seeing a legend play in meaningful international competitions is a huge draw.
BRA draws with CRC.
Question comes down to, do we want to play BRA in the QF or hope they are knocked out before the SF? (Assuming USA make it to the knockouts AND win their QF, of course.)
I am looking forward to seeing the USMNT here tomorrow, but really not looking forward to the cluster4uck that will be happening when the game lets out an hour-ish before the presidential debate with the candidates here. I guess at worst it would’t be the first time I walked home from the stadium.
I’d be concerned about CNN HQ being struck by lightning, attracting a tornado, experiencing a meteor impact, etc. as [insert name of preferred divine/supernatural entity] opines on the slate of candidates in the US this year.
The crowd for USA Panama is much lighter than what it was for ARG here. However the merch line at the main stand is insane. Merch stand is towards the top right here. Line snakes to the left through the crowd and out of sight
Copa America seems to have decreed no foul call replays on the big screen, as I don’t think I saw one in either game. They did replay all goals. I had upper deck seats today on the other end, so didn’t get a good look at the Weah red.
One thing MLS changed in the last year or 2: they show stoppage time countdown. Copa America apparently doesn’t allow that.
