CAS procedures re: Pearson Centers - Fall 2020

I went to the one on horizons up near Worthington on Thursday morning. Lol yeah, I think basically everyone is getting it where we live.

Completely agree… honestly I didn’t care if I had to wear a spacesuit I had to sit for this exam lol

I live in CA and I was worried they would shut my testing center down, but they kept it open even though my county was in the purple tier (widespread). I think exam administration is considered an essential service, at least for some exams. Hopefully they can keep them open because the exposure really did seem low and it is so important for people to be able to get their credentials.

I agree that they’ll probably grade the exams they get.

Even if that’s the case though, I’ll be interested to see how many people actually got to sit and if there are any changes to grading as a result (eg it may be tougher to find the appropriate pass mark based on candidate performance if only 20 people took it).

Raleigh, NC exam center has closed “temporarily” to allow time to meet new standards issued in the last couple days by the governor. I received the notification of closure today at 4pm, with original exam date of Dec 7. As of now, there are no available time slots for all of December at any NC test site. Looks like I’m totally screwed at the moment.

Theres some local ordinances where I live but no statewide shutdown. I keep wondering if my test will get canceled.

It does look like it was ‘local’ ordinance and not the governor upon a reread, though I have confirmed none of the centers in other counties appear to have dates available still.

the one where I live went into effect on nov 16th. It banned gatherings >10 people and dine in

I’m sure this has been said before, but this exact scenario was among one of the likelier outcomes, and the CAS did a terrible job with their “contingency”, if it should even be called that.

Guaranteed they’re going to wash their hands of this and blame the state regulations. Something along the lines of “sorry, we tried. Good luck next spring.”

I really want to take my exam Dec 31st. I absolutely hate waiting for the results. i figure if i take it then i won’t have to wait the full 8 weeks for results.

I can get behind this logic.

Did email ACS@casact.org per the CAS rescheduling instructions. That may be what’s required to find a test date between Dec9 - 31 based on that email from Nov 6.

apparently the CAS hasn’t authorized pearson VUE to extend the testing window yet

well that’s helpful. wait…no. that’s the opposite.

I am in California bay area and took my exam at Pearson today. Good experience, all staff at the test center were polite and it was a very smooth process. There was good social distancing and I did see staff cleaning, but was surprised that there was no temperature check. No issues with the spreadsheet environment and it was faster than pencil/paper.

I have some workmates testing later than I am and one of them voluntarily rescheduled last week and said there was good availability. Even with the most restrictive COVID tier, Pearson centers are open here but who knows if that will last.

SC has some available slots. Should I go ahead and reschedule in another state and wait on a CAS reply???

I would if I were you

Nice to see so many of the old gang from AO.

Gross. If CAS renegs on the window extension that’s total garbage.
