Now I’m gonna be frantically checking my email every morning for the next 2 weeks to make sure my exam didn’t get cancelled. Hopefully we hear some good news from the CAS next week.
A random in-state slot opened up this morning, which I managed to snag. So I have that, for now…
Great! When do you sit?
Still the 7th, which worked out nicely. Start time of 3:30 though, which will be unusual but doable.
Ah yeah a little late in the day, although hopefully not too bad.
You guys are crazy with the late test dates though, I knew my pre-test anxiety would be too unbearable to voluntarily take a late test date lol
Later is better when you’re not quite ready yet. I got my exams on the first and last days of the testing period since I wanted as much time as possible after the first one to cram.
Yeah your dates make sense, although you’re crazy for a separate reason.
So as far as a timeline for my last 3 exams. 7 this sitting, 9 in the spring then 8 in the fall then I’m done.
Does anyone know if exam 8 will be offered in the spring?
Back in April or so when the CAS first moved the exams back they mentioned they’d offer all 7-9 in spring 2021. Haven’t heard anything on it since then but I’d assume it’ll be offered.
Yes, they still plan to do that. And they should be publishing the new syllabus with exams and dates for 2021 in a couple of weeks.
In the town hall meeting they had a couple of weeks ago on new exam procedures, they said that they will be offering all the exams each setting.
That’s part of the reason for no longer publishing old exams and their answers, and imposing the NDA – the CAS doesn’t have the volunteer resources to come up with all-new exam questions each sitting. They need to re-use questions / create the question banks as part of making the whole thing sustainable.
I may be wrong, but I believe those efforts are for a long-term goal. In the short term, I think they plan to offer 8 this spring, then revert back to the standard 7-9 once a year until they have a big enough question bank.
That’s my understanding, too.
Anyone seeing cancellations? I’m hearing cancellations from multiple colleague/ex-colleagues.
My exam still hasn’t been cancelled. But I’m in a state that doesn’t really believe in science too strongly, so I’m not expecting things to get shut down/cancelled.

Report on reddit of CAS exam cancellation in Toronto.
I’m really wondering if I’ll be writing in February, even if I’m ready.
Governor here having a presser this afternoon, so I’m terrified of a new wave of cancellations.
The Pearson spreadsheet doesn’t happen to have a sorting/filter function, right? Thinking about certain things in exam 8 where that could come in handy (I have not sit for 8 yet).
