I’m driving a 2016 with a back up camera and you absolutely cannot see anything that is not directly behind the car. I mostly use it to make sure I’m not too close to anything behind me.
Even with better cameras, they are not going to tell you if someone is zooming up the lane that you are backing into,
I dunno if people just drive worse here or what. I used to solve this problem by parking far away and or pulling thru. But now I am often driving around a person who can’t walk far. Disabled parking does not usually allow pulling thru. And I need to use it even if I drop them at the door, bc they may need to leave the store before me.
No worries; I think it made your post read a lot better.
Don’t expect it every time; but I’ve been following this and was an easy thing to do.
For others: note that the quote tags need to be on a line by themselves (both the start and end tags) for the system to parse them correctly. DTNF simply started typing right after the closing quote tag (which makes all other quote tags below go wonky).
Definitely! Thanks. I usually don’t read the preview before I post, and I don’t read what I wrote after I post.
In the future, a “Hey, fix that shit,” can be posted.
Yeah, I like to ask pointed questions too. Like ask the salesperson how much he/she will personally make if I buy a car from him. Ask the F&I guy how much kickback he gets for loan origination.
I also make it a point to visit some dealerships before I am ready to buy. I get the mindset that I am there to gather information, but of course I tell them that I have my checkbook on me and am ready to buy. Having the fortitude to know that you can merely get up and walk away from them is a powerful position.
When I am ready to buy, I like to make an appointment about 90 minutes before the dealership closes. It takes a while to check out the car I want, test drive it, come to an agreement. You would be surprised how much less pushy they are with add-on sales when you are doing the paperwork 15 minutes after closing. No, I don’t want the extended warranty, the fabric protector, the paint chip protection. And at 10pm they are not too interested in pushing it on me either.
I get that.
They are large (larger the markets’), delicious, and cheap (cheaper than the markets’).
But it’s 10 miles to the nearest Costco. Gonna need to buy more Costco-only items to justify it.
I drive ~45 miles to the nearest Costco. OK, it’s “45 miles in the Midwest” and if you’re not in City in the Midwest you’re probably driving 15 miles to the nearest priced afforable anything instead of paying $1.79 for a can of soup and $4.59 for a gallon of milk at Ron & Minnie’s Mini-Mart.
I also probably do $300+ a trip, and there’s a chance to go see the falls and the lake if you take the right route, and those things make Mrs. Hoffman happy - and that’s going to be really important in 3 months when I need her (again) to help me recover.
Think of normal prices here as $1.29 and $3.29, respectively. Your 12-pack of Coca-Cola that’s $4.29 not on sale in a store would be at least $6 at R&M’s.
When I’m back down in Hell this weekend, I’ll get samples of prices.
When demand is lower, if his commission is $1000, you could try to negotiate a lower price, as he would rather $500 and a sale, you saving $500 on the price, then have you walk away.
In this environment I don’t believe the suggested negotiation steps would work
