I’ve noticed that there are many wine drinkers in the New World who don’t like European wines. European wines tend to be drier (less sugar), less confected and perhaps a bit more rustic than New World wines and some people just don’t like that style. Of course, Canada makes it own wines but if one wants New World style wines in North America, US has the most variety.
That being said, there are excellent winemakers in the US and Canada who are making European style wines, but they tend to be quite a bit more expensive.
And that’s why doug ford gets elected lol.
I believe that counter tariffs will ‘hurt’ the US, but they also hurt Canadians as well. That’s why tariffs are bad, they hurt both sides. That’s been made clear in the US where Americans are getting impacted on the tariffs.
Which is why, I think, if the goal is not revenge but instead is to minimize damage from the US while we extract our trade from them, we don’t do counter tariffs. And the proof of my little theory is that a Phd in economics isn’t putting on counter tariffs, despite doug ford wanting to lay the hammer down lol.
but, what do I know. Not much about economics, that’s for damn sure.
With the US doing what they’re doing, I’m not expecting good economic news. I just assume that whatever the news is, it would be a lot worse if Carney wasn’t PM.
These people aren’t conservatives. I"M a canadian conservative. THese people are idiots, we can just call them that.
I remember when there was some crossover, it just seems like a more recent deveopment that they’ve banded together and decided to represent conservatives.
I abandoned ever voting again for the Federal Conservative Party after it was taken over by Reform MPs. I voted occasionally for it in the past when it was still called the Progressive Conservative Party but haven’t since the Reformers dropped “Progressive” from the official party name. That action said a lot.
