Canada <> US

I’ve noticed that there are many wine drinkers in the New World who don’t like European wines. European wines tend to be drier (less sugar), less confected and perhaps a bit more rustic than New World wines and some people just don’t like that style. Of course, Canada makes it own wines but if one wants New World style wines in North America, US has the most variety.

That being said, there are excellent winemakers in the US and Canada who are making European style wines, but they tend to be quite a bit more expensive.

Apparently not. And I’m not drinking the wine, so not really up to me.

For the most part I can’t stand sweet wines, so I guess I would mainly prefer the Old World/European style.

7% of Canadians want to buckle to US, 60% plus want counter tariffs.

And that’s why doug ford gets elected lol.
I believe that counter tariffs will ‘hurt’ the US, but they also hurt Canadians as well. That’s why tariffs are bad, they hurt both sides. That’s been made clear in the US where Americans are getting impacted on the tariffs.

Which is why, I think, if the goal is not revenge but instead is to minimize damage from the US while we extract our trade from them, we don’t do counter tariffs. And the proof of my little theory is that a Phd in economics isn’t putting on counter tariffs, despite doug ford wanting to lay the hammer down lol.

but, what do I know. Not much about economics, that’s for damn sure.

I’d bet you know more than Doug Ford…

I’d like to see the US being charged export taxes on potash, oil, and electricity.

Very different headlines in Can/US today.

“Canada added 75K jobs in July”

“The US economy unexpectedly lost 23,000 jobs last month”

With the US doing what they’re doing, I’m not expecting good economic news. I just assume that whatever the news is, it would be a lot worse if Carney wasn’t PM.

Meanwhile r/canada is full of conservatives trying to claim everything would be better under Poilievre.

Carney cut federal gas taxes.

HELLO? DID ANYBODY NOTICE THAT OUR PM CUT TAXES? NO? ANYBODY?

This is why I maintain he’s conservative, not liberal. And why many conservatives are bozos, because here we have a politician who cut taxes and .

Conservatives are just envious that Carney is the Liberal party leader rather than the Conservative Party leader.

So much whining about how people and the media are conspiring against Poilievre.

These people aren’t conservatives. I"M a canadian conservative. THese people are idiots, we can just call them that.

I remember when there was some crossover, it just seems like a more recent deveopment that they’ve banded together and decided to represent conservatives.

I abandoned ever voting again for the Federal Conservative Party after it was taken over by Reform MPs. I voted occasionally for it in the past when it was still called the Progressive Conservative Party but haven’t since the Reformers dropped “Progressive” from the official party name. That action said a lot.

Trump’s antics over the last few years are catching up with him.
