WTF? Submitted gets only 680, when my 670 was the only individual score below 680? Admittedly we didn’t have ST’s picks, worth 730, before submitting and if we had broken the tie he would have created on F his way, we would have had 710.

Honor Roll not yet available.

November Honor Roll: took 710, achieved by 58. Procrastinator’s 740 would be 17-23. ST and BTDT would tie for 24-35 with 730. VVV and NN would be 36-47 with 720.

Under 10 days to go. My thoughts, without much confidence
In in case
A) 3NT. More defense that partner will expect, but don’t see a good alternative. Not inclined to settle for a limit raise, but that’s my second choice
B)4S especially at matchpoints. Slamunlikely and hard to bid if it’s there*
C) 2H.in case partner has them and bidding gets high.
D) 5H. Don’tsho like it at all, but partner bid 4 and I have those diamonds. I could easily be persuaded to double instead
E) 4C.show the strong clubs, suggesting no spade ace
F) 1 NT. Fine except for the stiff club.
G) 3NT. Looks suitable for NT.
H) D10. Extremely strange auction. Did LHO have penalty pass of 1SX? Even if so, spde could be right. Still, partner’s suit is always a reasonable. Choice

A. 3 spades. Would be understrength if 4432. Does moving a diamond to spades make it go all the way past the top end? Close to me. Second choice = 3NT.
B. 4 clubs. Initially thought 3D, but think this will get pd to value the cards I want him to value better.
C. 2 hearts.
D . Double. Red over white, pd is serious. Don’t think this is pure penalty, she can pull if very high offensive to defensive ratio.
E. 4 clubs.
F. 2 diamonds. Tough one: also considered 1NT and pass.
G. 3 spades. Will bid again.
H. Diamond ten. Think west has both majors. Possible pd is ruffing and should lead spades.

A 3S
B 4C
C 3C (normally would bid 2H with only 3, not sure I like it with 5. Will bid 3H over 3D)
D X
E 3S
F 2D
G 3S
H D10

A) 3N
B) 3D
C) 3C
D) Pass
E) 4C
F) Pass
G) 3S
H) Diamond Ten

A) 3S. Too good for 3NT, I think. I would feel bad if partner passed 3S, but since it’s match points, plus scores are key.
B) 4S. Why direct the defense by telling them I have a club void?
C) 2D. With a complex hand, take it slow.
D) Pass. I don’t know who can make what. I can’t raise, and I can’t double.
E) 4C. Show my sixth club, lack of heart support, and probable lack of a spade stopper.
F) 1NT. I show.11-14. I like this a lot better than 2D. Pass is a close second choice.
G) 3S. Will subside if partner bids 3NT or 4S. But I have to show my good suit.
H) D10. SK could be right, but LHO has a trap pass. HA could be right, but I think I have time.

What a terrible month. And fairly harsh scoring on some, with many more 0’s than usual for actions some of us chose. Oirg’s 590 was our high. It would have taken 640 to make the honor roll.

January problems aren’t available yet, which is unusual.

Third place, unofficially. Only 10 out of second. A decent December result would have done it. Winning was within reach.
