Eating lunch while served by robots in Lego House (Mini Chef restaurant).

Pics from our food being delivered by the robots.

Our little one was fascinated by them.

From my niece, who lives in Finland, she gave these to my daughter. They are temporarily displayed in my house.

Moved my son into his dorm room at Indiana University yesterday. Very excited from him but this morning I am really struggling. I feel like someone died or something. I guess it is a bit like grieving.

The first one always is. Don’t be afraid to talk about your unsettled feelings, especially with people like counselor or other trusted advisors.

I understand fully. It was so hard for me when we left my oldest daughter in an out of town residence so many years ago. Now she will be leaving HER daughter in residence in a few weeks’ time. Will be just as tough for her as it was for me!

Middle daughter (in London) has seamlessly returned to her director position after 10 month maternity leave. Her partner starts a new job October 1 after his paternity leave ends.

Youngest daughter returns to her nursing job soon after 18+ months maternity leave. Not sure I could go back to work easily after that long an absence.

Our oldest granddaughter just found out her college roommate will be an American. From Seattle though, which means no cultural leap coming to BC.

My son continues to defy his personal challenges with another solo trip (to Europe, in September).

My son learned to tie his shoes yesterday. There were tears, there was frustration, but there was also perseverance and ultimately a lot of pride.

Shame on us for not teaching him before he was 8, but life has been tough on him the last few years - covid lockdown, plus a few diagnoses, plus general social struggles. We coddled him a bit too much. But, he figured it out.

My daughter, Mini. T-2, is visiting. She’s been impressing all my friends. I keep hearing “I can’t believe T-Roy is your dad”.

My son started college at Indiana University yesterday. Had lots of tears last week when I moved him in. My heart warmed Sunday morning when he sent me a picture at a church in Bloomington. He’s a way better kid than I ever was.

Phew! threading the needle of posting in this topic but also saying “my kid is almost as good as I was…” feels like a brag on self.

had to be great for you seeing him take the initiative to try and find a church community already.

My 8yo had a med check today and was given the choice to get the flu shot now, or wait for his well visit in a month. I thought for sure he would say wait, but he said he wanted to get it over with. No tears. This is probably what should be expected of an 8yo, but last year it was a total meltdown because of the anxiety he had about getting the shot. I was very proud of him, he was nervous but decided to do something hard instead of something easy.

:+1: to him

I would have also been impressed if he had said, “ I’m going to wait a month so that the production of antibodies more closely matches the peak of flu season when I’ll need protection the most.”

It’s a good thing we didn’t wait, because we later found out we couldn’t get a visit in until the end of October, which is later than I would like!

You don’t have to get flu/Covid shots at the pediatrician’s office, but it’s nice to have it taken care of regardless.

I had a kid who hated shots. I got her FluMist when I could. (Is that still a thing?)

When she was older I just let it be her choice. Amazingly, the year her dad & sister both got the flu, she didn’t. Barn germs maybe? Or the fact that she spent more time at the barn than she did at home.

You have a barn on your property?

I thought kids couldn’t get the mist since it has live virus in it whereas the shot does not.

That might be old information though.

No, the barn was a good 40 minute drive or more. Her horses were there and she worked for the board. So she was always there, working or training. So she wasn’t in close contact with her dad and sister and didn’t get sick.

Idk. My kids got it a couple times at least.
