14 of us, as of this writing, hit the heart icon as an expression of condolence / sympathy / support.
That would have generated an alert for earning (another?) “Nice reply” badge.
I wonder if there might be a better name for that badge (although I’m struggling to think of one).
Sometimes I wish instead of just a heart you could leave different emoji’s, like Facebook.
It is why FB added the Hug
yeah, I didn’t feel right about using the heart reaction to that.

On my badges page, there is a little 8 in the top corner of the Nice Reply box.
