I took a bunch of folks fishing last fall, including a couple of alumni..one of them was a young woman like 8 months pregnant. She sat on the boat with us for like 4-5 hours. Unbelievable.

FINALLY got a rotisserie chicken from there. The pets were happy. It’s bigger and less expensive than those at the local grocery store.

It’s entirely possible that I missed this before bc of the huge crowd that tends to be in that part of the store. Or that I wasn’t looking bc these tend to be full of sodium and I am trying to be careful of that.

Will be a nice addition to sandwiches & salads this week.

We usually get at least 3 family meals out of a Costco rotisserie chicken.

I make an awesome chicken salad with Costco ingredients. Add in diced purple onion, celery, apples, grapes and dill pickles. Dress with equal parts mayo and ranch dressing thinned down with pickle juice. Soooo good.

I can’t eat them because of the sodium, it is enough to mess up my sleep.

Well, maybe i could for lunch rather than dinner, but i decided to mostly avoid them.

I use their plain Greek yogurt as the dressing on a chicken salad. Celery, grapes, onions, maybe some smoked almonds crushed up a bit.

The yogurt is also a nice sub for sour cream on on tacos or in chili.

Annoyed experience at costco.

Older woman checking out ahead of me has some sort of promo card. It didn’t work. She starts digging through her purse, flipping through numerous cards, can’t seem to find anything that she could use. Ask to try her promo card again. Still doesn’t work. More looking through her purse. Cashier… do you have a check?

Normal transactions with people who know how to check out take what, 30-45 seconds? Fortunately i was 2 behind her and did not have anything on the belt. So i checked out at the self scan since the line disappeared by then. Had the car loaded up, and was leaving… saw the woman finally waking out the store when i was leaving the parking lot.

Now this was a special case of someone who clearly does not shop there often, but it seems like most other customers get the system. If you are in line waiting to check out, get all your large items bar code up in your basket (or do this while shopping). Get the small shit on the belt.

Same with getting gas, you are sitting on line waiting, have your card in your hands when you pull up to the pump, scan your card, put the nozzle in your car, fill, and take it all out when it shuts off. Don’t get back on your car and screw around in there with your phone. There is a system and when you are there blocking the line, not only do you keep someone else from using the pump, you keep the entire line from moving in efficiently. The 2-3 cars using the pump should all be getting through this in roughly the same time, and when they all leave together, great things happen.

Oh man, I was totally blocking the self checkout the other day. Struggling with a box and leaving stuff on the little shelf after scanning when a worker came over and showed me how to do it properly.

Thing is, I always put my sodas and waters barcode up or out at the regular grocery store even if I’m not using self checkout. Not sure why I didn’t do it at Costco.

I did have payment ready tho.

The most annoying thing at the pump is when someone leaves the pump at the back and then the next car pulls in rather than waiting 30 seconds for the other car(s) to leave. Now, everyone else has to squeeze in between the rows to use the front pump(s).

It is an organized system folks! Follow the pattern, it is not that difficult.

Oh, and thanks to all the people who are scared to use the pumps on the wrong side of the car even though the hose is made to reach…makes my wait shorter on average.

Conclusion: Costco is still awesome, but people still suck.

Go get some Polish dill pickle spears from the good place across town. Pick up some fish at the good fish place while you’re at it.
