You think that you cant kill a person with a hammer? He tried to kill her husband and he needs brain surgery as a result. What do you think his goal was in attacking the husband with a hammer?
My understanding is that Paul grabbed what was his hammer in self defense and the attacker took it from him.
I know you CAN kill someone with a hammer. I can give you names of victims if you’d like.
But the “suspect” didn’t bring the hammer. He took it away from Paul Pelosi. The guy entered the house without a weapon - seems odd and premature to conclude his intent to murder.

The attack happened shortly after the bars close in SF. That opens up a lot of possibilities including conspiracy theories around gay affairs. Pelosi was charged with a DUI a few months ago so the idea that could have been out drinking is not unreasonable.
The guy still has his internet posting history of right wing nonsense, but following him home after a bar confrontation seems as plausible as a long planned out attack.
Does a dui insinuate that he gets in bar fights?

If it was a bar confrontation my guess is it was a politically motivated one based on his internet history. This isnt any better than breaking into their house without the confrontation

I read he did on CNN, per a source. I don’t always trust headlines early after an event, but it’s been a few days so I don’t think it’s chaos misinformation.
I’m just speculating. We don’t know many of the details. I guess I’m worried about the smollett scenario where the initial reaction could be pretty far off. I don’t think it was in any way a hoax, just that there are some fair questions out there that need to be answered before we really know what all happened.

I would agree with that. And Rand Paul shouldn’t have brought up her comment IMO.
He was asking “where’s Nancy” so at an absolute minimum he was trying to hurt her. I suspect he was hoping to kill her though.
I also suspect he’s mentally ill.
Yeah, maybe he was hoping to kidnap her rather than kill her. Hard to say. Either way, his intentions were clearly extremely malicious.
CNN is now reporting “un-named sources” who have been briefed on the situation, the suspect had zip ties, duct tape and brought the hammer.
Still no mention of a possible motive.

I think calling someone a crazy magat is an example of the type of rhetoric which should be toned down.

Because distinctions can be made between people with outlandish, irrational ideas, and those whose words and deeds are driven by actual mental illness.
I’ll admit that in some cases, it’s hard to make that distinction / that there may be a grey area when trying to make that distinction…
