It’s a shame that Labour, the Lib-Dems, and the Greens won’t agree to sit the next Clacton by-election out, to reduce the risk of splitting the vote opposing Farage.

What makes it a poor use? Seems perfectly cromulent to me.
You can use a text message rather than the emergency system.

Oh, I wasn’t aware there was a “non-emergency” text broadcast option. Considering the consequences, I’d be in favor of the govt using the broadcast options it has to distribute that message.
We have amber alert (child endangerment/abduction type) messages that pop up from time to time, and probably other stuff too. While it is an emergency for the child, it isn’t for the great proportion of recipients.
Maybe you aren’t taking the threat as seriously as it should be?
You need to factor in that by sending these type of messages out you desensitise people to what a real emergency actually is. Thats the general consensus in the UK now

Interesting, one day we should report violations with 999 and then the next day we shouldn’t? No wonder many people ignore rules like this.
The last time we got a national broadcast alert like this was when we went into lockdown for the 1st time in March 2020
