I think he made a bunch of money on very high end real estate development in the 1980s. He made money producing, ārunningā, and acting in āThe Apprenticeā. He just made $100 million getting a lease on the old post office building in DC, refurbishing it to his exact specifications, then selling the lease with building to investors after he left the WH. I think his licensing/management business worked okay for high end hotels/condos. (Not so sure on that)
He lost a bunch of money (mostly other peoplesā) on casinos. Also, airline, and other branded products. I suspect he is losing money on golf courses, but I havenāt dug into it.
He seems to be good at playing to peoplesā love of glitz and āhigh end lifestyleā.
(And, yes, the Truth Social problems are satisfying. He may be expecting a 2024 run will amp things up.)
Trumps brand sells to what lower and middle class Americans imagine doing if they suddenly had a lot of money. That sort of a dividing line on the success of his business (and politics).
Success is probably a generous word given he usually required a lot of legal fees to make that happen and his CFO pleaded guilty to a number of fraud crimes.
Honestly it would be a boon to have a captive audience to share whatever conspiracy theories without their family and friends to tamp down the flames of disinformation.
