Annoyed Thoughts

“Ted, why do you tend toward established big-name companies over small-time independent contractors, don’t you know you’re overpaying?”

Yeah, maybe I am … but I don’t end up in a situation like one of my best friends who’s out $9,000 because the guy they signed to do a roof replacement from hail damage - - like, legit hail damage with pockmarked siding and damage to window sills and chunks taken out of shingles, not ooh, if I hold this 12x magnifying glass up with a 1000W spotlight, you can maybe see the outline of a dent, … yep, definitely hail damage, you need everything replaced - took the money and went MIA, and the address he listed on the contract is the post office in another town.

Not a PO box, the street address of the post office. And chances are his phone number was a burner phone, because it went disconnected shortly after they signed and he took the check.

Yo, Bee Gee!!! Do you have a good Portuguese deli nearby???

No. I probably need to go to Newark for that. About 40 mins away.

I’m on the sbux patio: buddy 2 tables down marinated in his cologne and wingnut parking his car has his music so loud I can hear his windows vibrate on the bass.

Wow. Now exiled from interior consumption of caffeinated beverages as well as alcoholic ones. This has got me dying for deets.

It is a lovely, warm day and they sometimes crank the AC to meat locker inside. :frowning:

ETA: The only sbuxii that serve alcohol are those fancy, dancy, multi-level Roasteries (or whatever the fluff they are called).

I’m betting it was an insignificant but misinterpreted bariata signal.

The barista did say, “Hi, (real name).” when I walked in!!

The cat vomited all over the sofa last night.

The good news is that its a slip covered sofa, and it seems the nastiness did not get through the covers to the cushions. The bad news is that the covers are dry clean only, and the cleaner says the areas hit with water will probably come back a lighter color after dry cleaning. Hopefully we can buy some replacement slip covers, as the sofa is otherwise in great shape.

That reminds me of when I was a kid and the cat/s (not sure if it was one or both of them), pooped in the bean bag. It probably felt a bit like a litter box and it was hidden until someone tried to sit in the bean bag.

The light rail was down to a single track, so north and south bound trains had to alternate. We sat at least 40 extra minutes, arrived late to the hockey game, and missed out on the bobble head giveaway.

I had a jalapeño ready to harvest and it’s gone. Either one of the yard crew took it, or a critter got it.

Looks like there’s a chance I might get 2 more peppers before the frost depending on timing. They are just little nubs now.

May whomever took it shit fire for a week.

My brother had a habanero plant, and one day a pepper had a bite mark on it. We can’t be sure if it’s related, but he found a dead squirrel nearby in the backyard.
