I do that pulling into my driveway because it’s easier to get the car to line up straight. And because it annoys the heck out of weaselette.
From the article:
“[police] said the man could have experienced a medical episode”
“I’m sure his intention wasn’t to fall asleep”
Uh… his seat was reclined … a LOT. That’s not something that you do mid-medical-episode or unintentionally. I say BS.
Do not stop in a roundabout to let other cars in. This isn’t courteous; it’s confusing and dangerous.
I was making a left turn across 2 lanes this morning, timing it so could get across in the few seconds until another wave of cars. There was a lady about to turn right at the same place and my plan was to follow her. She sees me start to move and just stops as if she is going to let me go I front of her. This leaves me hanging in the middle of the road with more cars coming soon. So annoying. She finally figured out that she needed to get moving so I could go behind her but sheesh if you have the right of way please take it.
I have a similar story…left turn across 2 lanes of traffic…except I have a green left turn arrow. :enya: in on coming traffic has a red light is turning right to get onto the same road that I’m trying to get onto.
My green arrow was getting old & I figured it was about to turn yellow/red, so I stepped on it to go a little faster. She performed a rolling-“stop” and then got all mad when I “cut her off”. :enya: SHAME!
There’s a little side road by the Costco that specifically says no turning between 3:00 and 8:00. It’s 3:10 and I ended up behind some fluffhead making the fluffin’ turn into the Costco!!!
It’s 2:59 somewhere?
Maybe they were imagining they were circling the arc de triomphe
Rick Steves - The commotion of cars fights to get to the arch at the center as if to pay homage to the national spirit of France. Cars entering the circle have the right-of-way; those in the circle must yield. Parisian drivers navigate the circle like a comet circling the sun — making a parabola. It’s a game of fender-bender chicken. Tippy little Citroën 2CVs, their rooftops cranked open like sardine lids, bring lumbering buses to a sudden, cussing halt.
I’ve never driven in Paris. Is it really true that cars entering the circle have the right-of-way? That’s bonkers, if true.
Or is Rick Steves being silly. I don’t follow him, so no clue if I’m asking a dumb question or not.
I was pulling out of a parking lot on to a main road…car on the main road approaching a red light leaves a decent sized gap right in front of me for me to turn into. I did not see her ever wave to me, but she also hesitated when the light finally turned green, so I jumped in.
She was very clear that she disapproved of this move. It was not remotely close to being any sort of accident. I was fully in the lane in front of her without any real consequence before I think she even noticed, but still, lots of horn honking.
Having spent a lot of time driving in a big city where traffic sucks 100% of the time, people seem to be much more courteous drivers, like there is a common understanding that it sucks making left turns anywhere and pulling out of side streets can be a task on its own, so you are more likely to just have someone stop in slow moving traffic to let you in. Here where I live people are just assholes.
Unfortunately it doesn’t operate like a roundabout, so what he says is somewhat true but plenty seem to break the rule - very confusing. I haven’t driven it - just watched the chaos from the top of the arch.
An extroverted actuary: looks down at other people’s cars!
I’m driving east on a fairly large road (2 lanes west and east) when I see a fire engine with the lights going coming in hot westbound. I pull over to the shoulder and 3-4 fluffheads are still going full speed in the left lane past me- and don’t even pull over!!!
Oh! The one that gets me is when everyone pulls over and then after the ambulance/police passes by people in the back speed by those who are still getting back up to speed.
Of course, I get equally annoyed at those who take forever to get back up to speed.
I’ve seen a couple of fluffheads run the 3-way stop already. And the other 3-way stop that they opened up the road about 2 months ago has already seen an accident.
Ugh.
I’m driving in a through lane at a shopping mall when I see a big SUV is about to go from one parking area to the other side and NOT slowing down. Of course, I slow down and this 20 something year old kid cuts right across my front end without even looking left or right.
people who only drive the speed limit.
Whatever. I’ve been pulled over for doing 7 over. Meanwhile nearly everyone here goes 10+ over & no one cares. If I did that I would have a gajillion tickets.
