Annoyed Thoughts: archive 1

That’s maybe 15 a month then… can you not pick up at the pickle store a month’s supply every other time you’re in the area?

Not the pickle OP here, I’m jealous of having a pickle store.

My bad.

@BG5150 … how many pickles a month are we talking about that stocking up when you’re in the area is a problem?

It’s annoying that Mini Me’s father prioritizes annoying me over Mini Me’s well being. If he has the choice to hurt her in order to irritate me, he won’t hesitate to do it.

Mini Me deserves far better; I feel sad that her father’s hatred of me is stronger than his love for her.

I am from a broken home but for the most part my parents did not do this shit. As much as they hated each other they sincerely tried to do what was right for me. A couple of times I witnessed petty fights that I shouldn’t have, but they wouldn’t make me miss out on stuff or otherwise hurt me just to “own” the other parent. They were better than that.

I wish Mini Me’s dad was but he’s not.

I think most people don’t know that it is relatively easy to make pickles, and that home made pickles >>> store bought pickles. Or at least grocery store pickles, I’ve never been to a pickle store.

Yeah, dill pickles aren’t bad to make. Canned pears and peaches are brutal, it’s a full day in the kitchen cooking and peeling. The results are soo worth it though. The only reason I make them every year is that by the time August rolls around, I’ve forgotten how much work they were last year.

Back to annoyed thoughts, cabbages today were almost $8 each. $8 EACH. Jeepers, no wonder I don’t do the grocery shopping. Complained to the checkout person, then told her I’m going to go home and continue complaining about the price of cabbages to my spouse.

I imagine a post in the insignificant signals thread on cashier’s outpost will be going up tonight.

Huh, I was thinking it might be in the Anmoyed Thoughts thread.

$8 does seem like a lot, even in Canadian.

I hafta hit the grocery store this aft: I’ll give you a price check! :+1:

And I don’t know what the hell.with cabbages, but I’m pretty sure cabbage rolls aren’t supposed to be that shape.

Bruh, I am at FoodBasics right now. Cabbage is waaay cheaper than your quoted pruce. Were you at Zabar’s on the Upper West Side???

And what do the cabbage rolls look like???

Not cabbage rolls, that’s for sure.

The dryer displayed showed there was 17 minutes left. I looked about 15 minutes later and now it shows 43 minutes.

I like to treat my foster son before and/or after his visits with dad and sister. I usually get frappes for him and his sister on the way to the visit, and then sometimes we will get dinner on the way home. He would ask for McDonald’s every single day if he could, but sometimes he also asks for Five Guys.

Today, I promised we would get Five Guys. I started my online order earlier this afternoon and then finished it before we left the visitation. It was $43. I thought to myself, “huh, this always is so expensive” and didn’t think much of it.

Then I picked up the food and realized I bought two of my bacon burgers on accident. And since my husband will not only not eat bacon, but also refuses to eat anything that ever CAME with bacon, I have a giant burger (in a lettuce wrap) in the fridge. Maybe I’ll try to reheat it for dinner tomorrow. The idea of trying to eat it tonight makes me feel ill. I haven’t been eating much lately and could barely get the first burger down.

BF and I were just discussing how washer & dryer math is right up there with toilet paper math as being too complex to figure out.

I’ve had that happen on the washer, but in reverse. It starts out saying 56 minutes and then 50 minutes later it says 27 minutes. :woman_shrugging:

My dryer has a moisture sensor. It always starts with the same time, and then adjusts based on what it “feels”.

Facts don’t care about your dryer’s feelings. Just sayin’.

Yeah, my dryer supposedly does that too. That makes more sense to me than the washer… why does that vary so much? Especially after it’s gone through the initial paces and knows how big the load is / how much water is needed. What other variables are there when I’ve selected the cycle ahead of time?

We got a new washer in the last few months. It’s now a smart washer, which has been great!

One big improvement I noticed was that our old washer would not rinse long enough on the spin cycle. So I would throw a quilt in there and select “bulky” and it would often be soaked when finished. It would also occasionally have the same issue with other loads, but I noticed is most on the bulky setting, so blankets and towels and other dense loads. We weren’t overfilling them, either.

Our new washer senses the water still in the clothing and will adjust the time accordingly and rinse until they are the correct level of dampness to go into the dryer or hang. Which means that now our dryer’s time estimates are a lot more correct from the start than they used to be.

A dryer works by heat transfer and spinning.

It spins to get rid of the excess water while this is heated.

The moisture sensor will monitor that heat transfer.

It won’t be a linear reduction as it spins because the clothes are all different materials.
