There was quite a bit of lead time and considering this is [important thing] should’ve found a way to accommodate. We got pushback however we have found a solution outside of [team].” Friday:
I feel like I’m the only person that reads the AML guidelines for the life insurance industry in Canada. I reach out to life companies and industry wholesalers and I either get misinformation (“you have to do this”; me: “the guidelines specifically state I don’t have to do that”) or no idea responses (“I don’t know anybody that does that”; me: “uh, the guidelines clearly state that you have to do that”).
Compliance departments hate me.
I just fired off an email with a request for 'how is this requirement being handled?" and I already know the answer is going to be ‘it’s really not’.
Many years ago I was working with an entity that got bought by a bank. The banks lawyers sent everyone an email with directions and 90 days to comply. I responded with a long email pointing to regs indicating that I wouldn’t be doing that.
My rep got an urgent call to meet in Toronto. He called me after the meeting and said "I didn’t know they had that many lawyers. But they were all in one room, and they were all yelling your name.’
As my go-to work wear (and pretty much everywhere wear), how hard is it to make sweatpants??
My simple needs:
Strong Elastic waistband. (Because sometimes the drawstring isn’t enough).
Drawstring on the inside AND one lace all the way around, NOT sewed in the back! (If the laces are sewed into the back hem, then, yes, while a lace’s end won’t get lost in the hole, if the lace breaks, you are S.O.L. Plus, sometimes the elastic is not enough.)
Elastic at the bottom of pant leg. (You buy size XL, mfr assumes you are also XT.)
Pockets big enough to hold a modern phone.
Currently wearing ones that fail #s 1, 2, 3. Fits the phone, but barely. Have a back pocket, though. Grandpa’ing these things over ma belly to keep them up and to keep them from dragging on the ground.
Mind you, as soon as Spring is over (probably about a week here) my sweatpants will go into storage. But today, it’s overcast.
No, I just like corduroys and since COVID has kept me home I’ve nearly a perfect record of wearing them everyday for the past year (with a couple shorts days recently when it was warm)
The only reason I get out of bed in the morning is if I need to be somewhere. Having to go into work was enough of a “need to be somewhere” to get me out of bed at roughly the same time every day. These days…not so much…I’m struggling with keeping a schedule.
Ordered two bookcases that were supposed come assembled, said so clearly on the website. They came today and were in relatively tiny boxes. Clearly needed to be assembled. So we had to arrange to get them returned and find new bookcases.
I’m fed up with social media. I’m quitting it all. Twitter, Facebook stalking, Instagram, no more wasting time. It’s going to be hard to adjust but I’m going to try to spend a lot less time on my phone and a lot more time being present in my own life.
