I’m so dumb
Y u has teh dumz??? wut u dunned???
Could be worse.
A doctors’ office is apparently listed in a couple of directories with my cell number as the primary number. I’ve had to adjust my outgoing voicemail message to begin “IF YOU ARE TRYING TO REACH A DOCTORS OFFICE IN [location] YOU HAVE THE WRONG NUMBER”…and even then I get messages left by confused patients looking for test results, other offices seeking medical records, insurers asking questions…
I’d change the cell number, but it’s a cool number, and it’s linked to too many accounts for password reset or 2FA purposes.
EDIT: I also had the telemarketer calls dominating the landline problem. That’s part of the reason I changed to VOIP. Ported the old landline number to the VOIP service, but route all calls to it to voicemail. Got a new number to be the primary for VOIP, but I mostly don’t give it out; it simul-rings both the VOIP phone and the cell.
Pursued a career in the actuarialz with all these cockamamie learning requirements.
I’m only half way through volume one of two books plus there’s a whole helluva lot more reading besides that. This stuff is on shit that I’m supposed to already know and it’s like I have no clue htf I’m supposed to regurgitate it on an exam…I haven’t even started on the health crap fest that’s coming my way. SERENITY NOW!
I have shitty cell service at home. So i use a landline. Nomorobo is great. One ring and it goes away. We get very few spam calls these days.
I normally have one bar at home, the plaster walls are terrible. iPhones will use wifi for calling, unsure about the other phones but guessing it’s not a huge trade secret. I never have issues talking on the phone with one or even zero bars of cellular.
Plaster contains gypsum and lime cement, which plays havoc with signal transmission.
You must live in an old house then.
Plus it’s a stucco, so there’s more of that on the outside, and it may have wire mesh binding it. It’s 111 years old, so by midwest standards it’s old. European standards, not so much, lol.
I also live in an old house. Even worse, there is a small area of weak signal at my house and a few houses adjacent even outdoors. For years I had to keep a landline because my cell calls would often drop.
Calling over wifi makes that problem unimportant now. I get a great signal all the time over wifi. I did have to install a mesh router though to get a quality wifi signal throughout the house.
Yep, mesh router here as well. Even with three nodes there are a few spots with ok but not great signal. I’ve got 3200 sq ft spread across four floors. It’s fine.
Hmm, even with great Wi-Fi, people complain that it’s hard to hear me when i use the cell phone. Maybe it’s just user error.
I don’t have plaster. My house was built in 1959. It was the space age. I have space age insulation: a sheet of mylar wrapping everything. That wasn’t really a problem until i installed an aluminum shingle roof. I love the roof, but it killed my TV reception. I had to put up an antenna. The cell service was weak even before that (it’s still weak standing in my backyard) and that totally killed it.
Yes, i don’t need a tinfoil hat because i live in a tinfoil house.
Yikes. Thats a bad combination of materials for signal transmission. Here is a list from weak to strong signal dampeners (building materials wise)
Looks about right. Especially with a 2 1/2 story, signals have a lot of walls and ceilings to pass through.
I just learned that there is this concept on the West Coast of a scooped bagel, which is basically what it sounds like. wtf? If you don’t want to order a bagel, don’t order a bagel. It’s not hard people.
I think I can top that. When I first moved to the ‘city’ I can recall watching people eat donuts for breakfast. Like, who does that? Later I learned what a bagel was.
Yes I come from a place that’s that backwards lol.
I have a great bagel place near me. I enjoy eating a bagel there, but I think they are a little too big for their sandwiches. Fortunately they offer an alternative, what they call a flagel. It’s basically a flatter, skinnier bagel. I prefer their flagels for a sandwich.
Unlike the bagel scoopers, I am not choosing the flagel for health reasons. I just don’t want to feel like I need to unhinge my jaw to eat a sammich.
An alternative to a bagel is … a bagel???
Are you thinking of a bialy?
Damn you auto correct. Fixed
