Lyft has been really crappy lately. Tells me I can get a ride in five minutes, and then ten minutes later it tells me there are no drivers. I’m giving them one more try before paying $20 more for an Uber, they seem to be more reliable here.
I’ve been having issues with both Uber and Lyft lately underestimating pickup times. Lyft is generally worse about the underestimate, but both have slower pickups than they used to. It’s not unusual to have it take 15 minutes from the time you hail a ride.
Before your post, I thought perhaps it was a local driver supply issue here. I was in DC last week and Uber came promptly the few times we used it. Didn’t try Lyft there.

I’m headed to DC today and will likely use Uber or Lyft at some point. Thankfully the Metro will get me from DCA to my hotel, which is 200’ from the office. I will rent an e-scooter for shorter trips, only get a car if it’s more than 2-ish miles.
We mostly took the metro, but a few times Uber was more convenient.

My cousin once hitch hiked across the country. At the same time, she was also being watch by the FBI, so every time she got picked up, this random black car would follow, then pull off to the side of the road afterwards.
One day it started to rain, so she said eff it, walked up to the FBI car and asked them for a ride. They eventually obliged until the rain stopped then resumed the usual arrangement.

That’s awesome. It’s one way to make to whole hitchhiking experience safer (assuming they would intervene if the driver was a bit dodgy). I’d be tempted to take a few weeks off and keep hitchhiking back and forth across the country to see how long they would keep it up.

A great uncle of mine was a marxist and I guess pretty instrumental in that movement back in the 70’s. The RCMP apparently harrassed the living crap out of him, I believe quite illegally. He took them to court, fought the law, and the law won.
Not quite as controversial, I have another uncle with the same family name, who worked at a local pioneer village most of his life. He looked and dressed the same whether he was working or not lol, so he was featured in a lot of publicity pictures for the village back in the 80’s.
Annoyed. I just got an assignment back for a course im taking. My goal this term is over 95% in my courses. The assignment mark? 80 percent. Sure, way better than the class average, but doubtful i can make my goal now.
Whats just as bad is that i misjudged how i was going to do. At this point i have a pretty good idea of my knowledge when i submit an assignment, i was not expecting this.
I need to do a deep review on the assignment but dont have time. Im studying week four material right now. next week is week five, and they have a large assignment due this tuesday covering week four and five material. Wut? I have to learn a weeks material a week early and then do an assignment on it? Do the math on that one. Im normally a.week or two ahead on studying so i can do my assignments then sit on them for a few days then review them with a fresh perspective before i submit. Now im struggling just to keep up. Sort of annoyed.or maybe im just complaining.
Not gonna get a lot done around the house this weekend.

Kinda ironic to be complaining about distaste for marketing porn while working in the insurance industry, which likely has a worse marketing record.
I’ve heard stories about people going online looking for insurance, and having to change their phone number to avoid all the calls they get.
Something like 50 percent of Internet traffic is porn, if not more. So somebody’s looking for the product. The value ads is those people get what they’re looking for.
