How hard is it for retail outlets to keep gift cards in stock? I realize there’s supply chain issues, but it does not logically follow, in my mind at least, why that should extend to gift cards!
I guess my nephews are getting cash this year.

Gift cards are lame.
Less lame than cash IMO, and teenage boys are hard to shop for.
Disagree. Gift cards says i have no idea what to buy you so here is a card with less options than cash that you have to lug around and not lose
Losing cash is a bad idea, too.
But there are these key questions:
Do kool kids give gift cards?
Do kool kids use gift cards if they get them?
Since COVID shots are free, no need to ask about what kind of COVID shot kool kids buy with cash or gift cards.
Got a friend’s teenage son a Mickey D’s gift card. ![]()
Gift cards are okay if you know they frequent that business. Otherwise cash.
Yeah, I usually get them Steam gift cards which they definitely use. I like to imagine that they think of me when they cash in the gift card to buy whatever they buy with them… at least for a moment. In a way they likely won’t with cash.
But Steam gift cards are insanely hard to find. The nearest ones in stock (that I can find) are a 1:40 minute drive. Which is just too much.
I just drove across town to get to the nearest calendar store though. At least they had the specific type of calendar I was looking for! (I don’t trust Amazon to deliver non-damaged calendars.)
Too far, IMO.
Pro tip: If you give them counterfeit cash, hope they don’t think of you
Yeah, that’s each way, so nope.
Yeah, I’ve thought about going this route. One year I did Wendy’s for one of the boys (when his younger brothers were still getting actual toys). I’ll check with both sets of parents about that.
You directly add to their account, so they don’t think of you as they add a gift card.
I’m surprised they don’t do e-cards.
kool kids have very few friends and therefore don’t buy many gifts. we also don’t really do gifts with family members anymore due to things like gift cards being a waste of time.
kool kids still have many american express gift cards from years and years of company gifts that they never used because they forget they have them. some will expire. they should get on that. probably lost a few.
i didn’t break glasses when i was younger. now that i’m older, i often take said glasses off to see up close with my old lady eyes and then they wind up in places they shouldn’t and i step on them. this time i was hanging out with a dog (i blame the dog), he jumped on the bed. i was like shit, don’t jump on my glasses dog. i went to look for the glasses and not realizing that the glasses fell on the floor stepped on them.
Ugh, same. I broke down and got no-line bifocals and I hate hate hate hate HATE them. I have no peripheral vision at all with them on (which seems dangerous for driving) and my brain cannot cope with having an infinite set of choices.
On January 2 I will be getting the old-fashioned lined bifocals and deal with the fact that they will make me look old.
my now deceased glasses were progressives. the progressive feature was just entirely useless. i didn’t hate it. i just didn’t use it. it didn’t interfere with the rest of the glasses as i had to look down to use them at all. they were super expensive though and thus never getting those again.
You might want to try digital progressives, also called premium progressive lenses. They have a wider useable area, and more important to me, the world doesn’t move around as I move my head – there’s less distortion.
Bifocals with a line didn’t give me a headache, like my first progressive lenses did, but I literally saw double when I looked in some directions, and that had its own set of issues.
I went for cheesecake at the deli. All they had was the one with… rai-SINS!!!
You know I’m gonna pick out every one of those dirty, nasty, vile, corroded, unclean, radioactive fluffers out!!!
Um why didn’t you just get something else instead?
Cheesecake with raisins sounds like a ridiculous combo
