Annoyed Thoughts: archive 1

My printer isn’t working. And now it’s when i need the damn thing.

Some of the bronze weatherstrip on the front door is failing. Add that to the already lengthy project list. I had to remove some of it, which involved a fair amount of swearing and one busted knuckle.

So camping with the fam is becoming an annual thing, but this time I had to pack the tent up when it was very slightly damp with dew.

I then promptly forgot about the dew until a few days ago when I decided to open the tent in the garage and… mildew. :woman_facepalming: (At least I assume that’s what it is. It’s white and powdery.)

It wasn’t the worst mildew ever, but it’s been quite the ordeal trying to de-mildew the tent. I am hopeful that I got the last of it tonight. Of course I said that last night. And the night before. And the night before that.

Pro-tip: isopropyl alcohol is not as effective as a vinegar solution, BUT … it doesn’t drip nearly as much.

Really working too hard this week, trying to squeeze about 60 hours of work into 24 business hours. Not a good idea. Fortunately taking Friday off and will catch up on sleep then.

I didn’t check email enough this morning, so I missed a 12:30 meeting! :grimacing:

Was writing up some notes for my first visit to a pulmonologist, and I’m still annoyed that when I went to my PCP to discuss a chronic cough she put me on lisinopril for high blood pressure. I mean, she did change it a few weeks later when I asked her to, but still!

And I kept going to that office for 2-1/2 more years, until I had a high TSH result on a routine test, and even though I had informed them of fatigue that lasted for years (dismissed bc I was a working mom) AND my strong family history of thyroid disorders, they wanted me to wait 6 months before doing any further testing.

I think I am as annoyed with myself as I am with that dr and her staff.

Also annoyed that I had a chronic cough for 6 years and only now am seeing a specialist.

And now I am super duper really extra hopeful that I have gotten the last of the mildew.

Actually, I’m thinking that possibly new mildew is growing, because there was a big enough spot in a prominent enough area that it’s hard to imagine how I could have missed it before. :grimacing:

That sounds pretty annoying!

I keep thinking it’s Friday with the DNGAF Friday thread being bumped.

Once mildew gets established, it’s really hard to get rid of. I suggest a new tent. Sorry.

I have the kind of cramps and the corresponding gas that only happens on my period that make it feel like I’m about to be split open from the inside. Torture.

Every month it gets so bad I can’t sit still or quietly through them. I actually think those 10 seconds every month are worse than the VERY worst part of labor.

Ugh… this one has been used for a whopping 6 days. 3 days for last year’s camping trip and 3 days for this year’s. That’s not a lot of mileage for a tent.

I keep thinking that I got it all and just need to wait for the latest round of vinegar to dry. I might go back to isopropyl alcohol. It dries faster and I can just leave it on as it doesn’t drip everywhere, unlike the vinegar. I need to buy more though as I used up all of the stuff I had on hand.

Have you tried soap? The internet says that undiluted vinegar can kill mildew. Bleach can, too, but it might damage your fabric. A washing machine on “hot” with dishwashing soap works, but i don’t know how large your tent is.

Iirc you can buy spray for mildew on tents. I have a canvas prospectors tent that I had to use that stuff on once when the tent went away wet.

Obligatory that’s not a tent, this is a tent. My tent takes multiple guys to carry and has a woodstove.

Yeah, if the mildew keeps coming back I’ll have to try a specially made spray.

I’ve been using a 20% vinegar solution based on an article I found on the internet, but maybe I’ll go stronger on the vinegar.

So I dumped some more vinegar in the spray bottle I’ve been using, but did not add water, so I’m now spraying a more concentrated mix although I measured nothing, so no clue how concentrated.

Part of the tent is tan and part is navy. I can’t see any mildew on the tan parts, just these pinprick-size white dots on the navy parts. We’ll see.

But I can set up & take down my tent all by myself, which was important to me. And whilst I can’t do it in the advertised 60 seconds, I can certainly do it in 5-10 minutes if the ground isn’t so rocky that getting the stakes in is difficult. Probably faster if I went camping more than once a year and better remembered what to do.

I’m guessing yours takes more than 5-10 minutes for one person.

I do require assistance for the optional rain fly. I’m not tall enough to get that over the top of the tent.

Lol, yeah a little bit. It’s the difference between a sports car and a dump truck, and I need the dump truck of tents😄

Annoyed, at least once a quarter. I belong to a community/volunteer org that consists of about 125 old white guys, a lot of them retirees.
The organizer sends out emails to everyone ‘cc’ instead of ‘bcc’. So we all get everyone else’s email address.
Then, guaranteed, a bunch of the recipients feel the need to ‘reply all’. every single time.

I think there should be a multi step procedure to allow reply all.
