Annoyed Thoughts: archive 1

that’s when i go get take-out. it already happened once.

i don’t have company over.

I may be guilty of this (I probably am, but I can’t come up with a concrete recent example right now), but it’s a legitimate thing to do.

Now I’m going to need to pay attention to my vocabulary for the next time I do it LOL.

I’ve heard “solutionize” and “productionize” in the office. It just did not sound right to me!!! :man_shrugging:

When I looked at the definition link, I thought it said “actuarialize” instead of “actualize”!

my neighbors might not appreciate that. i’ll have to check the contract though.

I read it twice too, power of suggestion from @Ted_Hoffman LOL.

I wondered what the actuarials were on someone doing that. Apparently higher than I expected.

Oh, yes! Allow me to pile on. What annoys me most about that commercial is the chick obviously can’t whistle. The director said to her, “Just put your fingers in your mouth and blow! We’ll edit it in post-production!” It’s so lame!

Also, it’s time for GMC to come up with some new “holiday” commercials. This one’s a rerun and the stupid “one for me one for you one” is on its third year. See http://www.commercialsihate.com/gmc-xmas-one-for-you-one-for-me_topic26970_page3.html and scroll down to “Triple J”'s post on “06 Nov 2020”.

Commercials are so 2015.

I get plenty of commercials playing Words With Friends

Trying to put up a website and get answers from compliance. Beyond annoying. Particularly when I’m extremely compliant.

e.g. In Canada, you’re supposed to disclose every use of someone’s data. Everyone uses Google Analytics, a non-canadian company, and Google’s TOS state quite clearly that if you use analytics, they get access to all your user information. Should that use be disclosed then? Tons of life insurance companies do this, the provincial gov’t of ontario uses Google analytics. And nobody discloses it. How do you think that conversation went with compliance (particularly since compliance has no idea what google analytics is).Compliance’s response - no answer other than ‘everyone else doing it is not permission for you to do it’. Like, even if the gov’t is doing it? that’s not good enough? take a freakin’ leap here people.

Don’t even get me started on the definition of explicit email permission.

When my gas range gets testy, i remove all the loose metal pieces that make up the burner, and carefully put them back in place. That usually does the truck. If a piece gets jostled and is out of alignment, the burner doesn’t reliably light. If that doesn’t work, i remove them again and clean them before putting them back. So far, that’s always worked.

Once, when a burner really acted up, I found an incinerated spider corpse blocking the gas vent. But usually it’s just that the metal part needs to re-seated.

I also use a match if I want to cook RIGHT NOW and jiggling the burner isn’t good enough.

Paper cut!!! ****!!! :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: :confounded: :face_with_head_bandage:

In Sunday school we once made paper knives. Someone wondered if you could get a paper cut from them.

Significantly more than “annoyed”, but not sure where else to report:

Got T-boned while crossing an intersection this afternoon. My wife an I in the car, me driving, and were hit on the passenger side. Both are fine, although there are some muscle aches that will probably last for a couple days (we did go see a doctor at an urgent care place just to be sure). The car is dead - it was my dad’s car. Not sure how the insurance stuff is going to work - he talked to them, and they are going to be calling me tomorrow to talk through some things.

The light had just turned green and we were most of the way across when I noticed that there was a jeep coming that was not slowing down at all. The lady that was driving said she was “sneezing”. She was a nice enough lady, and she did have insurance, so that’s good.

Wow, glad you’re ok. That could have ended a lot worse.

This belongs in a “Scary :poop:” thread!! I’m glad you’re both OK!!!

Yes, it could have been a lot worse. The car did its job of keeping us safe very well. RIP car
