I’m waiting for my visa to be near expiration to maximize my time with my kids. The cold is just a free bonus.

I love snow. Just wish we had more here in BC before we do our annual family ski holiday in the interior. El Niño in BC means warm dry winter. A bit different maybe in the East

Wife and kids are staying until July so they can finish the school year with their friends. Bonus that we’ll get to house hunt when it’s warmer than -50.

Opinion, stay in ottawa and the immediate burbs when looking. Metropolitan Ottawa and the immediate vicinity is great, but right outside that it drops to Florida real quick. All the small towns within driving distance of Ottawa are still pretty rural redneck.

We are focusing on Hintonburg/Westboro/The Glebe.
It is unfortunate that Perth is an hour from Ottawa as it is one of the most beautiful and historical towns in Canada. Also has a lively cultural scene. Worth a summer weekend visit.

(I’m not sure if you’ll get popped admitting to Canada you brought legal weed, but I think it’s still illegal to transport. Definitely traveling with legal weed from Canada to a legal state in the US will land you in trouble.)

Yeah, I’ve definitely left stuff at home then traveled to Canada where family just has a pile of weed plants in front of their house. Silly US.

My BIL grows a few plants every year in the old manure pile beside his barn. The kids call it poo weed.
No weed this year, the cows ate all his plants lol.
