I brought that up last week when he was named by Trump.
I did see a headline that said the FL gov (DeSantis?) said he would not appoint Gaetz replacement but would call for a special election to fill his seat as required by law. So Iām not sure if that means Gaetz gave up his elected seat in the next session by resigning now or not. I might go out and read the article.
Or as Lyndsey Graham would call them, a lynch mob.
I enjoyed that song when I was a teenager but cringed when I heard it as an adult. Not so for Gaetz, I guess.

He apparently made the rounds among GOP senators in the past few days. I can only speculate that he was told that his chances of being confirmed by the senate were similar to the snowballās chances in hell.
I also speculate that despite his douchiness, he has the wisdom to opt to withdraw, rather than to be pointlessly tortured in the confirmation hearings.

Drudge report was suggesting he was now asking DeSantis to make him a senator.
Donāt see whatās in it for DeSantis. Trump would prefer Lara Trump. I think Republicans now see Gaetz as a liability and his future in the party is limited.

When Pam Bondi was AG of Florida, her office was investigating Trump University. The Trump Foundation then made a campaign contribution to her, and she dropped the investigation. Ignoring the question of whether or not there was a quid pro quo, it is illegal for most types of charities to donate to political campaigns, and not only did the IRS ultimately determine that this contribution was illegal, it was one of the reasons why the Trump Foundation was ultimately forced to dissolve. On a corruption note, this was not the only time her office dropped an investigation into an organization at roughly the same time as receiving campaign contributions.
She was also big into leading āLock Her Upā chants in 2016 and spreading false election fraud claims in 2020.
