Or just plain ignorance.
I think the latter. A lot of what the administration is doing is carrying out requests for far right groups, with no verification of whether or not the requests make sense. The librarian firing was in response to a recent social media post by such a group, and many of the students who are being deported don’t seem to have done anything wrong other than appear on lists of undesirables made by right wing groups.
For decades, the head of the FBI has attended a daily 8:30 a.m. “director’s brief,” where he is presented the most important intelligence and law enforcement information gleaned from thousands of agents and analysts across the country, current and former FBI officials say.
And on Wednesday afternoons, the FBI director or his deputy held a secure video teleconference with the leaders of field offices across the country to share information about bureau priorities.
But that schedule has changed under FBI Director Kash Patel. Unlike his recent predecessors, Patel is receiving the “director’s brief” two days a week, according to two current officials with direct knowledge and two former FBI and Justice Department officials familiar with the matter. Patel has also stopped holding the weekly Wednesday-afternoon video teleconference with FBI leaders, one current and one former FBI official said.
The person who wrote this:
was also the most influential professor on Harmeet Dhillon when she was an undergrad. She now heads the Civil Rights division at DOJ.
When it came time to go away to college, Harmeet was accepted by Duke and Dartmouth. Dartmouth won out. At Dartmouth, Harmeet had two life-changing experiences: working for the conservative Dartmouth Review, where she ultimately was named editor and made such friends as Laura Ingraham, Dinesh D’Souza, and Keeney Jones (now Father Michael Keenan Jones), and taking classes from Professor Jeffrey Hart, now Professor Emeritus of English at Dartmouth.
Side note: The Library of Congress, and the US Copyright Office, are both parts of the legislative branch, not the executive. The word “Congress” in the title is a tip off about this.
Side note #2: The LoC Librarian is appointed by the President with the advice and consent of Congress.
Fun fact and just a coincidence: the fired Librarian is black.
Could she be fired by the Baby Firer-In-Chief? She should probably sue.
amazing how easily the current admin believes it can determine who is and isn’t qualified. such insight
Fixed, for accuracy.
Pam Bondi going to go “soft on crime” in this case?
White guy, right?
More importantly he is Canadian. Trump may see seeking a death penalty to be politically sensitive given how some Canadians in China were given death penalties. We must be seen to be better than China.
He’ ll have his hands full Day 1.
Assuming he knows what a “bad actor” is.
My wife flew into Newark a few days ago. No problems at all.
I flew out of Newark a couple of weeks ago. Had a small delay waiting for the runway (about 15 minutes), that was it.
The formula is lie, and lie again if needed. Admin had enough people in key positions that you don’t need to worry about lying under oath. In fact, it will get you more money and a bigger position
He’s the secretary of state. Brought to you by Car’s Jr. For real!
Other cabinet appointees that helped grease Rubio include Labor nominee and Carl’s Jr. CEO Andrew Puzder with $30,600; Commerce nominee Wilbur “the Bankruptcy King” Ross with $25,000; and Small Business Administration nominee and wrestling queen Linda McMahon with $10,800.
This is actually an encouraging appointment IF it accelerates research in the potential medical benefits of psilocybin-assisted therapy in the US.
